Best strategy for seeing Spectro?

I just looked at the park hours for our week in mid-May and it appears that Spectro will be happening twice during our trip. It will be at 8:30 on Tuesday (park closes at 9:30) and at 9:00 on Saturday (park closes at 10:00). Just a couple questions:

1. Which night would you choose to see Spectro? I'm sure that Tuesday might be a bit less crowded than Saturday, but Saturday is our last night in the World. Which would be better?

2. We have park hoppers...what is the best strategy for hitting MK on a Spectro day? My guess is to do another park in the morning, take a break, and then come to MK in the late afternoon. Will we be able to ride anything at that point, or is the park just going to be too full? Will Fastpass probably be gone for everything? Any other strategy you've used that's allowed you to see the parade?

Thanks for any advice or experiences you can share. I'm really not into parades much but I thought this might be a cool one to see!

We did your number 2. Spectro was only on one night that we were there. We did Epcot and headed to MK about 5:30. Let me tell you I was amazed at the number of people already line dup on main street. The curb was packed at that time of day. THe parade wasnt until 7:00. I dont understand why pay that kind of money to sit on a curb. The place less crowded is toward the back where Liberty Square is. This was a tuesday.
I think a lot of people go to MK the day of the parade.

We always do Spectromagic on Saturday because it is also our last day in The World and we feel that this is the perfect end to our perfect vacation.

We claim our parade spot approx. 1hr to 1 hr 15min before the parade begins. This is a long time but you can get a spot in front and in the end it is well worth it.

Have fun!!

I would say try to go to the Tuesday night show. Saturday is going to be busier, due to it being a weekend. Tuesday the kids are still in school in Florida. We did Spectro on Saturday our last trip, only night showing. It was horrible, wall to wall people as far as you can see. It was the last week in April. I hope this helps. Have a great trip

We go to another park in the am and after a rest go to MK. We usually grab supper at the either Pecos Bills or the place in Liberty Square near HM. There's a little wall around some trees as you're looking toward the Riverboat. (Just left of the stockade). We've had that spot two years in a row. (The parade was coming from Main Street...I'm not sure if it always does.)

It was great. We held the spot in front of us while we sat on the wall to eat our suppers. Then we got into place just in front of the wall when the people started to gather and the ropes go up right there. The parade comes toward you and then turns right in front of you.

But...you can't use this technique in October...it only works for us then. :smooth:

As for the choice between Tues. and Sat...that's tough. I would maybe do Spectro on Tues. to avoid the late night and the crowd...and do Illuminations on Sat. when everyone else is at MK!

The only time I have seen Spectro was a Saturday night- it was the only night it was showing during our visit. We went to Epcot in the AM (good choice as it was VERY uncrowded) and headed to the MK around 5:30/6. There were already people parked on Main Street. We hoofed it to Pecos Bills, got dinner and sat on the curb outside Pecos Bills, kind of across from Splash...we were at the very end of the parade route, but we were able to sit and no one was allowed to sit in front of us. It was a good deal.

However, if I was in your situation, I would choose Tuesday to see it. Then if you absolutely LOVE it, you can go back and see it again on Saturday!

EDITED to say---this is my 2000th post! Wahoo!

If Tues is your first chance I would see it then ,in case it rains on Sat and they cancel it. WE were there 2 weeks ago and it rained on tues so we sawt on Sat. and it was much busier. We always watch it at Sleepy Hollow as it comes over the bridge.

I definitely agree with plan 2. We did a Tuesday at MK last May with Spectro that night and I have never seen it so crowded. By noon everything had long lines. We left and came back in the evening for the parade.
