best steaks

To answer your original question, its not an arguement its an opinion. Assuming you visit WDW and partake in the experiences therein I assume that you pay the inflated prices associated with the experience as well. Because its Disney, right? Ever stay on property?

You spend your $$ where you want and I'll do likewise for the experience, ambiance and whatever because its Disney. ;)

I pay the associated prices to the degree that I think it's worth it. I don't mind paying 42 bucks for a great steak. I'm pretty unhappy paying 42 bucks for a mediocre steak. Thus Shula's is (generally) worth it and Yachtsman's is (generally) not, IMO.

FF keeps getting mentioned and it is a GREAT tasting meal. Sadly the steak is much smaller than it used to be and it never was the best quality but the EXCELLENT preparation made it (makes it) just dandy.

This is a matter of personal preference, I think. I had a hard time figuring out how I would eat a steak the size offered at Shula's. Even the smallest was more than I could manage!
We just had a great meal at the Yachtsman last week...

I agree that Shula's is best --

(except of course for the Japanese wagyu at V&A -- however on our Chef's Table visit last month they weren't offering it at all, they were serving an American wagyu, which was also delicious but not as unbelievable as the Japanese).

We don't bother with Yachtsman anymore. We used to love, love, love the Chateaubriand for two, but of course that is now gone with the DDP changes. There are very limited choices of cuts at Yachtsman anymore, and we do think that steaks at Shula's are better quality. Add to that the fact that Shula's encourages parents to put their sweet darlings in the childcare center for 2 hours and you have a winner.

Count me in Peter Pirate 2's camp! I don't care if I can get Shula's in places other than Disneyworld. When I want a good steak, I want a good steak.

:sad1:

Shula's is good but I feel that you can get that in any major city.

We live 20 minutes away from a Shulas, so I understand this comment. I can dine there any time I want. While Shulas is very, very good, I have never dined at the one in WDW however and doubt I will.

At WDW we dine at Yachtsman and love it. We always stay at the YC or BC and it's just part of our first night tradition to dine at Yachtsman. We have never had a bad meal there. The service is excellent.

We as a family, also really love the steak at Flying Fish. It's so good that even though I am a huge fish eater, I always go back and forth about what to get there. The service at Flying Fish is excellent as well.

We have also had very good steak at California Grill and my husband and sons also enjoyed the steak at Citricos. I had fish there, so I can't personally comment on it, but they enjoyed it.

We have Citrico's on the map for our upcoming trip. It'll be our first time and looking forward to it.

eah7: I agree-the steaks and portions are quite large at Shulas. But often they will have a special that features a petite filet.

We don't eat at Nine Dragon's or Teppan Edo for similar reason's. There is better Hibachi and Chinese Food at home and the ambience is similar.

We do go to Biergarten because there is nothing like it at home.

The steak at the Flying Fish to me was the best steak on property, it was incredible. My DH thought the steak at Brown Derby was the best, it was very good, but since I only had a bite I don't remember if it was better, this is the second time this year he ordered it. (Brown Derby is one of my favorite restaurants on property).

Shulas.

On each of my last 2 trips, I , a relatively small female, downed a 32 oz prime rib and next time, I'm taking on the 48 oz steak and getting my name on the wall... lol

(FWIW, I was still hungry after the 32 oz prime rib, but I think that was because it was sooooo ridiculously delcious that I just wanted more...)

DH is a wimp...he only took on the 24 oz steak. He said he was still hungry too because it was that good.

The sides are what get you. They are freakishly huge. Seriously, these had to be genetically mutant asparagus we ate... so huge and delicious. But we learned to only share one side.

Fabulous wine list too and also, last time, we were given champagne by the waitress on the house since it was our honeymoon. Shula's is now a must on each trip we take.

I agree on Shula's! We've been to WDW over 50 times and this past Thanksgiving was our first time to try Shula's and we liked it so much we went twice! You can also get a GC from restaurant.com to use there...helps a little!

The 8oz filet at Brown Derby (for $40... and I accidentally asked for the 40 oz, everyone had a good laugh) was fantastic. Highly recommend. My wife's steak at Flying Fish was cooked perfectly.

I noticed no votes for Le Cellier, and I agree with that. Their mushroom filet is tasty, but it doesn't compare well as far as "good steak" goes with other places. Also the Filet at Cali Grill was dissappointing, especially since every other dish we've gotten there has been great.
