Hello...This fall we will be traveling to disney with my sister-in-law and her family who are big steak eaters. I will be making our dining reservations in the next week or so (my favorite part), and want to make sure everyone is happy with my selections. Can anyone recommend the best places for steak? Thanks so much!!

The top ratings generallly go to Shula's at the Dolphin. (It is not on the dining plan, however)

I will definitely NOT recommend Le Cellier for steak. Poor quality beef, plus it was fatty & tasteless! Never again. Ick!

I would however suggest Shula's.

Wow - that was fast..thank you! We will be on the dining plan and will most likely be sticking to those selections...any suggestions for restaurants that use 1 dining credit per person? Even if it's not "the best" steak, but really good? :) Thanks again!!

I had a really good steak at the Coral Reef and I want to say Whispering Canyon Cafe.

You're certainly quite adamant for someone who hasn't actually tried the new dinner menu. Seriously. I've had blah experiences at Yachtsman and I've giving it another chance in a month. I've gotten terrible cuts of meat at some of the more expensive steakhouses, too, such as Morton's. But that doesn't mean it's a bad restaurant.

Most people have very good experiences at Le Cellier. If you go for lunch, you can get the mushroom filet for one credit. I would not recommend many other items on the lunch menu.

For a single table service credit, I would probably recommend the Grand Floridian Cafe for a steak. Since it's very close to the Magic Kingdom, you can even plan your night around that ADR.

Assuming that you're ruling Shula's out because they're not on the meal plan I would go with Yatchman's. For two credits Le Cellier is definitely not in the same league with Yatchman's. We were there last month for the new dinner menu and were not at all impressed. If you want to stick with a one credit restaurant I'd try some of the suggestions above like Coral Reef or Grand Floridian. I've also heard that the steak at the Turf Club is quite good. We've only had the prime rib there.

We had the most amazing steaks at Yachtsman back in Feb. The NY Strip and the filet, they were perfect.

Love the filet from Le Cellier, Bluezoo and Citricos, the NY Strip from Flying Fish is excellent too. DH had a great rib eye from GFC

I am a steak lover and have never been disappointed with Whispering Canyon at the WL.
They are serving a New York Strip that is fabulous. (used to have a ribeye I craved for months on end year after year, but they replaced it with the strip).

It is a good value at 1 TS credit on the dining plan, so I would say head there.

Below is a pic of my steak from Feb 2011. Enjoy!!

It should be noted here that Le Cellier is 2 credits at dinner only - still 1 credit for lunch and they still offer filet, albeit a smaller portion than dinner.

LOL!! :lmao: You make me laugh. ....I suppose im not very forgiving am I? If i have one bad or mediocre meal ...im VERY reluctant to go back and give it another whirl. New dinner menu or not! :confused3

Best steak at WDW:

1. Shula's
2. Yachtsman
3. Citricos

I can't really blame anyone for feeling that way. It's basically how the restaurant business works - one bad night, and the bad word of mouth could crush you.

But Disney is immune to that because of their built-in audience, and I have to say most of the restaurants are extremely inconsistent. None have always been perfect for us. I guess that's why I've been so forgiving - I expect the food to be amazing sometimes and mediocre/bad other times.

In retrospect, outside of Disney one bad dining experience is enough to permanently turn me off a place. But if I did that at Disney...I'd have nowhere to eat.

:lmao: Lol! Very good point!! I guess once i've managed to eat at ALL of the restaurants at Disney, i'd probably go back to le cellier and give it another chance. But I generally prefer not to do the same place twice just because I like to try new things all the time. Its more exciting that way. Of course there have been restaurants i've repeated because my son insists on it.
