We just booked this resort for the first time yesterday, and after reading DIS reviews, people either love this resort, or hate it! With that in mind, what are best rooms (which buildings) to request in the standard view category at this resort? (Search is disabled again so I can't do a search). This is our baby daughter's first trip, plus we are bringing best friends of ours for their first trip (so we will have an 11 month old and 2.5 year old). We aren't worried about ourselves too much as we visit Disney yearly, but we want our friends and the babies to have an awesome time!

Thanks, Tiger aka Piglet's momma

Trinindad North and Martinique are preferred locations costing extra. Others like Jamaica and Aruba. The CBR FAQ contains lots of good info on CBR. We love the resort.

When we stayed there last year, we were in Martinique 2629. It was a standard view corner room that faced onto a lovely courtyard and if you took a few steps outside, you could see the lake and the beach. What was great about it was that it was less than a five minute walk from Old Port Royale (food court and sundry shops). Having small children with you, that might be a big plus. However, I think Disney has started calling Martinique a "preferred" building, and charging around $10 more a night for those rooms. You may want to ask when you make your reservation; it might be worth it for such a short walk to OPR.

I agree that with such young children, it'd be worth it for the few extra dollars a night to have a close location. We've stayed twice in Martinique building #25. Close to a bus stop, food court, main pool, gift shops, quiet pool, etc.

I agree with others that distance from Port Royale and bus stops is more important than view, with small children.

Last year, we stayed in Martinique 25, and while it had a beautiful view, the only time I looked at it was one rainy afternoon while the rest of my family slept and I got tired of watching the "zip a dee do da tip for today" channel!

By far, the beat part of our location was that we could walk out of our room, around the corner, down the stairs, and be at the beach, food court, or pool in about two minutes.

Now that Martinique is a "preferred building", I think we'll try for Jamaica this year, which is just a little longer walk across the bridge to get to everything.

On my only visit to the CBR, we stayed in a standard room in Jamaica. We were there with the my parents & all my siblings (along with their very young children). There were 17 of us in all.

We requested first floor rooms, which put us all on a little courtyard where they have tables & chairs set up. That was great for us because the parents would sit outside their rooms with the doors slightly ajar while the kids were sleeping, and have a refreshment and chat. It was also great when the kids were awake, because they could run around the courtyard and play.

As far as the location goes, it is further from the main pool and food court, but not that far. You can just pop the little ones in their strollers and walk over in a few minutes. It's a nice walk, as you cross two bridges and through Parrot Cay (with its tropical birds).
