Best Spring Time to travel?

We have always been fall free dining Disney Travelers, for the past 3 trips we have taken. However, we are trying to squeeze one more trip in before our daughter starts Kindergarten. This trip would need to be in the spring of 2016, basically anytime from January to May. When is the best time you have found to go, crowd wise? Does Disney ever offer any promotions during this time period? I have never been in the spring so I feel kind of lost on this!

Thanks!

January and February have pretty low crowds generally, as long as you avoid New Year's, MLK and Presidents' day long weekends, and the traditional February vacation week (usually Presidents' day week). But the weather is unpredictable and has the potential to be quite chilly. March is nicer weather but also tends to be much busier because it's spring break month. Easter is in early April, which will make that time busy. But the second half of April tends to have lower to moderate crowds, and May is also a pretty good month, although it can start getting pretty hot in May. As far as promotions go, Disney offers them almost all the time. If you go to the Mousesavers site (just google it), you can find data on when Disney has historically released their promotions in past years. They tend to follow the same patterns, so it will give you a good indication of whether there may be promotions when you're going.

As Jaysmom noted, there are weeks in Jan and Feb that historically have very low crowd levels, but they also tend to have unpredictable weather, short hours, and ride refurb closures. One of our very favorite times of the year to visit is the end of April through the first week of May. Crowds are moderate. And the weather is warm, but without the dragging heat and humidity of later months. Plus the parks are all so pretty then.

I went the last week of April/first week of May and thought it was a lovely time to go. It was a little hotter a couple of days than I usually like but overall fantastic.

We went the first 2 weeks in May and it was awesome! The weather was warm but not scorching and the humidity level was perfect so we were able to enjoy the water parks and resort pools. As the OP mentioned the parks looks awesome and Flower and Garden was in full swing.

I think Disney had discounts between 5%-30% for our trip last May.

Good luck with your planning

I went the second week of May back in 2011 and the crowds weren't bad at all except for our last day which had a D23 event going on. The weather was a bit on the hot side, but nothing I couldn't handle! I'd definitely go back during that time in a heartbeat.

My very first trip was last year April 26th-May 2nd and it was wonderful! Beautiful weather. A bit hot one day, but not bad at all. I live in South Carolina and can handle the heat. We went this past Sept/Oct and while nice, I much preferred Spring. We aren't early risers and took advantage of later park hours. Epcot was beautiful during flower and garden festival. I would wait until at least mid April to get the spring breakers out of the parks. Have fun!

I love late April, early May. Just stay away from Easter (first 2 weeks of April). The weather is plenty warm to swim but not the horrible humidity of July - Sept.

Easter is early in 2016- at the end of March. The two weeks around it will be extra expensive, other than that, the rest of April and the first week of May have wonderful weather, lower rates, and moderate crowds. We stayed at POR with a weird discount (percent off room and one day ticket free with package) and got upgraded to a royal room on our arrival, which means to me the resort wasn't packed! Enjoy your trip, and I'll wave on the way out, because with my girl in school now I'm trying a spring break trip. We'll see if we ever do it again!

Oh awesome, thanks for your replies! We have been in July and September so the heat we can handle, though it would be nice if it wasn't quite as scorching! Looks like I'll start tentatively planning for late April/early May! Thanks again!
