Best spots for fireworks not in main area

I will be solo in Disney 3/2-3/6 and don't want to stake out spots an hour in advance. I'd like to sort of catch the fireworks but don't feel the need to have the most amazing view.

To that end, I was wondering where people would recommend I try to position myself for MK, Epcot and HS fireworks that wouldn't necessarily be in the "main" area. I had heard that in MK going behind the castle was a good idea, but I'm not really sure what that means.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Behind the castle means watching from Fantasyland. It's incredible. The fireworks are so close to you. Yes, you don't see the projections on the front of the castle, but I enjoy the fireworks more so that doesn't bother me.

Illuminations at Epcot can be seen from so many places around World Showcase Lagoon I've never really understood the need to stake out a viewing spot.

Yes and Yes!
And for MK, you get the fireworks over The Beasts castle and some over Cinderella's castle. It's the best place to watch, ever. Just walk down to where you are between 7DMT track and the entrance to BOG. There's even a Photopass photographer there at times

The projections on the castle for the show at MK we’re pretty amazing. I thought they were optional before I went but having seen it I would say I would have skipped a ride or two if needed get a good view of the MK fireworks show - it was a huge highlight for us. We arrived an hour early.

If you have never seen it from the front for sure watch from the front. We try to do both, front and behind. If we only have 1 day to pick we go with back

IMO, you need to be in front of the castle to experience this show for the first time. For the dates you are going and since you are going to be solo, I don’t think you will have any problems walking up and finding a good spot for yourself 15 minutes before the show starts.

Just a word of warning...if you watch from Fantasyland, some of the shells are LOUD! My DD and I one night grabbed a Dole Whip and cut through to try to watch from Dumbo. Right as we passed SDMT/Pooh area, a big one went off and I swear I ducked! Sounded exactly like a shotgun. But if you just want to see a few in the air but not really watch “the show,” watching while riding Dumbo was really fun and it was practically deserted back there.

We like to stand off to the left of the castle, kind if in front of CP for MK.
For Epcot we like to sit on a bench over in Japan, you can see the fireworks well, but not really the spinning glove, but very uncrowded.

ive seen the fireworks from behind the castle and honestly, i didnt care for it much. I didnt like that fireworks were coming from different sides. I had to turn my head back and forth constantly. Its good to try at least once to see how you like it for sure. But personally i like the front of the castle. :)

We enjoyed the fireworks across bridge to liberty square. You can see projections on side of castle and fireworks to the left.
