We have been to FW many times and I know it can be very difficult to back into some of the sites. However, we just purchased a 34' Fifth Wheel and have a F350 Crew Cab dually pulling it. Does any one have any recommendation on good sites. We are travelling with our pets so we really prefer to stay in the 300 loop - DH has to have his cable. Does anyone have any recommendations on good/long sites that are easy to back into????

Most or all of the preferred loops are now pet loops, so you aren't limited to 300 anymore.

Can't help with the long sites, though.

There are lots of sites that will accomodate long trailers/motorhomes. My wife and I drove around once last year and started marking those sites that seemed really easy for our 40' MH. Turned out there were quite a few ... we stopped writing.

We have our favs, like 903 (not preferred), and 433. You can ask for a site, but no guarantees.

They have a book at check in that shows all the sites like a layout for each loop. Ask to see where they have you. You get some idea what's up before driving back there and realizing you are in trouble.

Just be patient and don't get worry ... most of us get a little nervous when check in time approaches wondering what site we are getting. Last time we actually were told which site, next to one we asked for, not sure how often that happens.

Good luck ...

Actually, the 300 loop sites are MUCH smaller than the sites in the 1600-1900 loops. Although they do provide cable, they are closer together and not quite as long. We prefer the sites of the 1800 loop (since we have pets) since the majority of those sites are "queen sized" sites. The cement pad on the 1800 sites is larger (both in depth and width). The extra width accomodates the awning and slide with ease and allows us to set up lawn chairs, etc. under the awning (which you can't do with the more narrow sites). We have a 36' FW, so we probably share the same concerns about backing into a site. As for me, I would definitely forego the cable access (and the extra price for such) in the 300 loop for the peace and tranquility and extra room of the pet loops ..... something to think about.

Make sure that they have noted on your reservation that you have a camper and not an RV. The last two times we've stayed at FW, we have been assigned a site that was too short for our 37.5 ft camper and Ford Excursion. On this last trip, the CM that checked us in said that our reservation said RV. Our confirmation didn't say RV so I'm not sure where the mix up occured. Luckily, the CM realized immediately that the site we had been assigned wouldn't work and was able to find us another one.

IF you have a reservation for a preferred site, then I would recommend the 700 loop. They have the longest sites. Also most of the preferred loops now are allowing pets, so no worries there.

Hey Grumpy92. I heard that the sites in the 700 loop are difficult to back into. Are you aware of this problem?

We are staying in the 1200 loop. They have made 3 sites in the 1200 loop pull through sites. The 1200 is full hook up, not preferred.

I'm sorry. I guess I can't count. There are 2 pull through sites on loop 1200.

Hey 1018scr,

Hope you are having a great time with Mickey - I can't wait. We are still debating on which loop to request - guess I'll just fax my needs to them on Tuesday and hope they get us into a site that will accommodate us.

Where are you able to connect to the internet at FW?

Enjoy your trip:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

I don't connect to the internet from FW. We live about an hour away and stopped by the house before driving down to Sarasota to visit with family for a couple of days. We also came home for Christmas to watch our 2 year old grandson open his presents on Christmas morning.

By the way, I faxed our request and they didn't note it on our ressie. I read somewhere that many resorts are no longer taking faxed requests. If you don't ask for it when you make the ressie, they won't honor it. The CM at check-in did honor our request, however, when I showed him a copy of the fax I sent.

Enjoy your trip!

We just went on our first "big" camping trip with our new 35' camper in October and had trouble finding a spot that would accomodate our tt and excursion. We stayed in the 1400 loop (thought it was best w/ our young kids) and the first assigned spot was WAY TO SHORT!!! I even called ahead a few days in advance and warned them that I had a long tt and w/ our pull vehicle would be about 50 feet. Anyway, we picked our own spot (thank goodness it worked out that it was empty and no one was out for a drive) because there was no way my husband was going to wait for me to walk back to the gate and see if "our new spot" was ok. But I did jot down a few spaces that I would request on a return trip. If you are interested in 1400 loop, I'll find my list and post those spaces. We liked it because it was convenient to the campfire, pool, gift shop, bus stop, etc. for our little ones. Anyway, trying to plan our next trip this spring and I will have to really emphasize the length of our tt and tow vehicle so we don't run into a problem again (and request one of those spaces that I was eyeballing!) Good Luck.

Instead of walking back to the front, you can just pick up a house phone at any comfort station and call. We have done this before when we wanted to switch sites.

On our last trip we arrived around 8am, so we just parked in the public area of the lot at the reception outpost and broke out the bikes. We road around the pet loops and picked out a few open sites that we liked and then road back up front to chek in.

We keep a camping log book, and always walk around any campground we stay at and note the sites we like. It has helped us on several occasions when we needed to change sites when we were checking into a campground.
