Best site for 2 families (popup + tent)?

Hey everyone!

I've been on the Dis for a while, but this is my first venture over the camping board. We've taken a few cruises over the last few years, but with our DDs getting going in school, we've come to the realization that scheduling those may be a little difficult for a while.

So, we cancelled our Magic cruise out of San Juan next year :( and put the money towards a popup . Now, we're trying to plan our first camping trip to Disney and want my brother and his family to come along too. They'd be tent camping (2A, 2C), but our popup has full hook-ups (w/e/s/c). Are there sites that would accomodate both?

I've been hooded on the DCL board for so long, I can't wait to read through here!

Welcome to the Dis Campers! To begin to answer your question I would say that generally all campsite classifications will fit a PUP (popup) and a tent and most of the sites in those loops will work. However, the Premium sites are fully paved and do not have a sand pad to stake down tents, so you will want to keep this in mind. The Partial hookup sites are generally those assigned to PUP and Tenters, but they do not include sewer. I assume your PUP has 30 amp electrical, so you can plug into any of the sites in any of the loops. Additionally all sites have water and cable. The amount of space in the sites varies, so unless you are bringing one of the largest PUPs and the tent is one of the largest cabin or canvas safari tents, you shouldn't have any problems getting them to fit. You aren't limited to the Partial campsites and can request any other classification campsite you want.

There are several other PUP campers here who can help fill in the blanks and answer any additional questions you might have.

here is our PUP in the loop 200 (Preferred) on our last trip. This should give you an idea of the space available. Note: my PUP is up against the sand pad, but still on the pavement. The electric and cable service is provided in the back of the site and sewer and water can be seen closer to the camera. My Fleetwood Yuma had plenty of electrical cable to reach.

Bearikens pretty much nailed it, rab1022.

:welcome: to the DIS Camping Board.

I have a popup. You asked what site is the best and they're all great. You don't reserve a site but you can REQUEST (not guarenteed) a loop (and loops range from about 20-70 sites per). There are four types of sites with a spread in costs so it comes down to how much you want to spend (what type of site) and your location preference (close to the pool, close to the beach, near a Comfort Station, etc).

So a couple of questions:

1. Where do you live (how far to tow to the Fort)?
2. What time of year do you want to come?
3. What type of pup do you have?

Thanks everyone for the replies. Like I said, we're just getting started in planning, but you've given me a good first idea.

Ed, to answer your questions:

1. Coming from Myrtle Beach (~9 hrs at our pace)
2. We all have young kids, so we'd be coming during the "breaks". Thinking maybe week before Christmas or MLK.
3. I have a Forest River Rockwood HW276 PUP. Just got it last month and have only taken her out once so far.

Once again, thanks!

Welcome! If you're gonna need sewer the full hook up sites are pretty large. 1800 and 1600 are my favs. If you're not gonna need sewer, 1500 is my pick.
