Best signature restaurant for birthday dinner?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to decide which signature restaurant to pick for my birthday dinner. I mostly just want to go somewhere we can dress up before we go to Cirque du Soleil. I'm thinking a nice dinner, the Cirque at 9, and then maybe Pleasure Island afterwards (if there is time). We are not really fancy food eaters, but we both do love to eat and really enjoyed the dining room food on our Carnival cruise. I'm thinking that the Yachtsman would probably suit our food style the most, but the atmosphere does not look like it would be as nice there as at Jiko. Jiko looks like it has some things that we would like on the menu (the filet) but I was wondering if it has any "weird" flavors to it? I would love your opinions on what place has the nicest atmosphere and best food for people like us who don't like the food to be too fancy.

My opinion for a greet place to eat would be

CindrellaCastle princess: :) :disrocks: :cake: :jumping1: :rainbow: ::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :donald: :dumbo: :sulley: :tigger: :tink: :hmghost: :smickey: :mickeyjum :earsboy: :dog2:

We had my husband's b-day dinner last year at the Portobello in DTD. That would make it easier to get to La Nouba. It was nice. We are having it this year at Narcoosees. Citricos sounds like another nice choice. Jiko's has also gotten rave reviews here on the boards. Whatever you choose, have FUN!

narcoosees!

beautiful restaurant, great view, excellent service

we always get the crabcakes, scallops, lobster and for dessert:

almond crusted cheesecake!!

Sounds like you have the right idea with The Yachtsman. When we started going down to WDW on a regular basis years ago DH wasn't interested in being adventurous. He is a red meat lover so it was a given to do The Yachtsman. He also was OK at Cali Grill with the Oak-fired Filet. When Jiko opened he knew I was dying to go there so decided to suck it up and try the filet even tho' he wasn't convinced he'd enjoy it. :scared1: He fell in :lovestruc lust :lovestruc with that filet. DH isn't big on wine but he had no problem with the sauce. The mac -n- cheese you get is not the neon orange Mickey mac. It's more upscale yes but more subtle. Jiko is another one that stays in our dining rotation.

Another DH favorite is Citricos.
