In preparation for our upcoming trip I wanted to ask for others opinions. What are your suggestions on best shoes for walking around the parks? I just purchased a pair of Sketchers Go walks and they are amazing!

For me? Brooks adrenalines or tevas. I have to alternate between shoes for optimal comfort.

I have to alternate shoes too during our stay. I like to relax in the evening and wear a comfortable pair of flip flops I'm the evening for dinner or shopping.

I have 5 pairs of go walks and used them on our last Disney trip. I love them, no socks, and I was blister free after 11 park days. I have bad feet too, wear custom orthotics in my running shoes, and the go walks are still better.:thumbsup2

In short, the best shoes for walking around the parks are the ones that you, personally, find to be most comfortable. That can vary from running shoes to sandals to flip flops depending on who you ask.

For me, I have lower back, knee, and foot issues so I only wear good running shoes or cross-trainers that are fairly new but are broken in along with comfy moisture-wicking socks. I take at least 2 pair of running shoes/cross trainers (different brands or styles) so I can alternate them and have completely different shoes on my feet every other day. I also take a pair of Ecco sandals to wear around the resort in the evenings or to walk down to the pool. The sandals are comfortable, but I could never wear them for hours and hours every day, but they provide me with a 3rd pair of shoes for the mix. For various reasons I could never wear flip flops, "cute" sandals, or Crocs for any walking at Disney World (or anywhere for that matter) but thousands of people wear them at Disney every day. I would be in so much pain that I wouldn't be enjoying myself after about an hour of walking around in those types of shoes, so I wear what works for me -- good supportive comfortable shoes.

Teva Mush Flip Flops!!!!

Thanks to the Dis, I LIVE in them all summer long. I just broke out a new pair, to break them in before our WDW trip.

I always bring along a pair of sneakers as well, though to be honest I'm not sure why. I have yet to actually put those sneakers on during any WDW trip. I wear those Teva Mush flip flops instead.

(FInd them at amazon)

I agree, this just depends on what *you* find most comfortable. I wore cheap, old navy flip flops all 6 of our park days and was perfectly comfortable, no blisters or pain. i did bring my running shoes but I never used them, I thought they would be uncomfortable if i got them wet

I agree that it depends on you and your comfort. We usually bring a good pair of sneakers and Keens sandals. We go in August and with the daily rain storm every afternoon, the Keens are comfortable, have good traction when wet and dry fast.

Kurus (kurufootwear.com) have been the most comfortable shoes for me to walk around the park in. They also keep my feet pretty cool even when it gets hot!

As PP have said, whatever is perfect for YOUR feet. However ...

In terms of a CATEGORY of shoes, my answer is a water-accepting sports sandal; one with a backstrap that will stay on your feet on rides like Soarin', or on the hanging coasters at USIOA or Seaworld, should you go over there.
In my family, we like different brands. DH and DS17 prefer Teva Dozers, I like Clark Privo Sandals and Merrells, and DD7 is fine with her Land's End water sandals.

For winter travel, we all prefer Merrell Jungle Mocs, which are (obviously) not sandals, but repel water well and are very comfortable for extended walking.

One thing to note re: shoes for theme park walking: don't cheap out. Do you really want a pr. of $30 shoes to ruin your comfort on a $3000 vacation? Spend the extra to get a good shoe-- constant pain can really ruin an expensive vacation. Also, while you are at it, buy some Body Glide and apply it to your feet; it will prevent hot-spots that cause blisters. (If you spend extra for shoes that are comfortable, you'll end up wearing them a lot after you get home, even if they are a style you would not have previously thought to wear.)

Tevas or Keens for my girls. Waterproof, breathable and no blisters!

I like a good pair of hiking sandals. I like my Teva Tirras or my Chacos.

I have to wear very supportive shoes all the times. I could never walk all day in flip-flops.

I have a pair of GoWalks that I love. They are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. However, in the parks I like to wear shoes that can get wet.
