Hey All,

I am hoping my fellow podcast listeners can give some shoe advice. We will be going to WDW in Disney in April when I will be 6 months pregnant. I am thinking that sneakers will be a bit of a nightmare as my feet tend to swell, but I still want something with substantial support. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Been there, done that, a couple times. Sneakers are your best bet. Make sure when ever you sit, to prop up your feet to help with swelling. Thin socks help with moisture and take a few band aids in case of blisters.

Also, drink more water than you think you need and stay in the shade when possible as your skin burns more easily.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I would wear sneakers with lots of support, perhaps running or walking sneakers. It'll help keep the swelling down also.

When my son was 17 months we went to Disney when I was 6 months pregnant. I didn't have any problems at all.

I've read that pregnant women often enjoy crocs - b/c they let your feet breathe.

However - be sure to try/break them in before your trip!

I did Crocs when I was pregnant and has stayed with them ever since. They have plenty of room and offered me support. The only time I didnt wear them was in the rain because they can slip.

I have been when 6-7 months pregnant and was thankful for my sneakers which were the walking type. In April the weather won't be awful yet so swelling might not be an issue.

I know you asked about shoes but make sure you carry a water bottle with you to stay hydrated and enjoy!!!

I would bring my sneekers and my Crocs!

I would like to vote for Crocs, but they were not available when I was pregnant. I know there is no way I could have wore sneakers when I was pregnant. I had to resort to Birkenstocks the last 4 months.

I find Crocs to be supportive and they are the only shoes I will wear to the parks now. Make sure to try them out first.

I wore my old, dirty, ratty, really broken in work sneakers.

They didn't look all that great but I didn't have problems. I went when I was 6 mos PG, too (Last Feb.)!

I tried crocs...hate them, they just don't fit my feet well (bought different styles, exchanged for larger sizes...still hated 'em) :confused3 If they work for you, go for it. Some people love 'em.

I was swollen pretty bad this last pregnancy and had little sausage toes a lot of the time, but was actually *better* at Disney b/c I was walking and not just standing still in one place like I do at work.

HTH! Have a great time!!

I'll go for sneakers. But it's up to you, go for shoes we're your comfortable.:thumbsup2

Have a nice and safe trip coming. :)

I did Disney while about 6 months preggers. I wore running shoes (which i do almost all of the time in my daily life anyway) at the parks and crocs around the hotel, pool, etc. I really needed the arch support of the running shoes to make it through the day. Thinner socks or wicking socks for runners are also key. You might find it best to take your crocs with you to the park so that you can take your runners off every few hours. I just went to the park in the morning then went back to the hotel for pool/nap/etc midday and back to the park in the evening. Good luck and remember to drink water constantly.

My vote is for Birkenstock Sandals. I wore them all through my pregnancy and still love them. Any time my feet start to hurt, I slip on my Birks and all is better.

I am a pregnant shoe freak....

For our WDW trip when I was pregnant w/ DS, I wore either my nike running shoes, Teva sandels or my crocs. I don't think crocs let your feet breathe AT ALL...comfortable yes, but not nice on the sweaty dept.

When I was at WDW 2 weeks ago, I wore my running shoes or my J-41 shoes ...the running shoes were so much more comfortable...

I would go with runners, Tevas or crocs.

I usually do wear running shoes, but with my last pregnancy I retained 30 lbs of water; I was wearing slippers to work. Maybe I'll have better luck this time:)

I have had some success with Teva in the comfort department, but I have not tried Crocs. Do the crocs that look like flip flops offer the same solid support as the others?

Thanks:)

Went at 35 weeks (flew back home at 36 weeks 1 day) and I swear by my Tevas. I wore a pair with VERY good arch support and did 10 hours a day at the parks. I didn't own a pair of the Teva Mush flip flops at that time, but I would have tried them if I had them. I was also worried about the swelling with sneakers. Chased my 2 1/2 DS (ok DH did the chasing, I did the watching), drank alot of water and had an amazing trip!!! Love those Tevas!!!

I wore Tevas when I was pregnant and was happy with them. They have good bottoms, though nothing in terms of ankle or foot support. Give them a try.

I always wear my Tevas to disney, though now I have been wearing crocs, too.
