Best Shoes for Rainy Weather?

Hi, all! Am leaving for WDW on Saturday (YAY!) and wanted to ask for advice about footwear. Looks like we're going to have some rain. What do you find works best for rainy weather?

I'm thinking Crocs would be waterproof but might be somewhat slippery. I have some good sneaker/hiking-type shoes, which are kind of waterproof. I just sprayed them with some waterproofing spray, which should help.

I also read a tip that if your shoes get wet, you should stuff them with newspaper overnight to help dry them out.

Any advice? Thanks.

I would advise 2 pair of good shoes.

Waterproofing like you did

Synthetic socks so if your feet do get wet they are not sitting in water getting blistered.

Ah, good idea! Thanks. I think I'll also toss a pair or two of dry socks in the backpack to change into, too.

We use Camp Out to waterproof items. Walmart carries it in the shoe dept. Newspaper is a good way to dry them out. If its warm outside put the shoes inside the car. The warmth of the car will help the drying time.

I love KEEN Whisper sandals. They are very supportive and comfy for walking, yet lightweight and waterproof. If they do get wet, they dry very quickly. We always wear KEENs to Disney, and we never get blisters or sore feet.

Well, if you really are worried about water, there are plenty of water sandals out there that will drain water instead of retain it, and there are even amphibious water shoes/hiking shoes that will do the same. My favorite water sandals came from Wal-Mart, actually. Good soles, nice thick cushioned straps and they dry well. My amphibious shoes are from Columbia though.

Tennies will dry really quickly if you stuff them full of anything dry (old towels, newspaper, old bedding. . .) and turn a blow dryer on them for a few minutes. I can't count the number of weekends and vacations where that knowledge has come in handy! (Not really useful for Disney, but if you've been trekking through creeks, rivers or the ocean all day and your shoes are stinky from the water hosing them down with vinegar before you dry them will make them smell like vinegar, which is a definite step up from the smell of day old creek water!)

Also, if you get caught in the rain, synthetics are better, but best is just to take off your socks entirely.

Crocs can get slippery in the rain. If you're out of tread, they can get slick on the bottom. Then, your foot can slide around if water gets inside. My kids had Keens and that's what I will be getting for our next trip.

Don't wear CROCS!!!

My husband and I were just at Epcot this month and it was drizzly that day. He was wearing Crocs and slipped SEVERAL times. Many of the walking paths and sidewalks have painted areas which makes them VERY slippery. Don't wear crocs. Just . . . don't. lol

I was wearing regular old tennis shoes and never had any issues. My feet didn't get wet, and I was able to stay on my feet much better than my poor husband.

Have fun!
