Best Servers on The Magic

I think all of them are wonderful. We have had a lot of different ones during our cruises and I think for them to do the job they do, work the hours that they work, put up with what they have to put up with, and still make sure we all have an "exceptional" expereince, they are all the Best in my book.

On our May '03 cruise we had Jean from France and Olga from England. They were amazing. Jean pegged our group (four of us in our early-mid 30's) very well and was appropriately 'snarky' in a non offensive way (on formal night, for instance, he complimented the two ladies effusively and sniffed at the men saying "I suppose you'll do" before escorting us, all in fun). We still talk about how great they were and how much fun we had.

Wish we could remember the name of our server at Palo, but that would be to warn everyone, as he was /awful/. Just horrible. Rude and never checked on us, etc. etc. We complained, but never heard anything about it later.

I was so happy to see someone mention Fitz!! We had him on our first cruise on Jan. 2003. He was so friendly and his smile and his laugh were just the best!! On our March 2004 cruise we saw him on the video that Disney plays on the bus on the way to the port! He was still on the ship but unfortunately he wasn't our server. I didn't know that you could request a certain server or we would have!! His assistant in '03 was Ferdie (Ferdinand) and he was fantastic as well. Kept the kids (and the adults) entertained with his magic tricks!! We didn't realize how good we had it with our servers until our second cruise. The servers we had were fine but couldn't compare to Fitz and Ferdie!!

We had the Sachim of the pictures....

He was wonderful.

The first night the boat was rocking a lot and one of my DD's was seasick. At desert she asked for cracker. Sachim brings her some cracker and a Mickey ice cream bar (one for her and one for her sister). He said to us that the cracker is for her seasickness and the ice cream bar to make her happy.. . He was so nice....

Another rave for Jean from France, who I hear in an email from his then-assistant waiter David from Australia is now a head waiter (YAY for him!). We also adored David from Australia - he was new to the ship when we had him, and it was wonderful to watch him become more comfortable throughout the week.

And I cannot possibly say enough wonderful things about Florencia in Palos - I have never, in my life, been treated so wonderfully by a server, we had her both for brunch and dinner, and her complete love of her work is inspiring.

I completely agree with you about Florencia... she really cares about your enjoyment and goes to any length to help make it memorable... she is such a sincere, kind woman... on a side note, her husband is a chef on board, ask her the story of how they met sometime, its really cute... lol...

LOL! Yep, met him too - my husband is a chef as well, so that was a huge topic of conversation - it never ceases to amaze me how people "in the business" respect and appreciate one another, even if they have never worked together. Panda (her husband) was the chef doing one of the "Art of Entertaining" series presentations, at which I went up to him and told him how wonderful and amazing his wife is. What a great pair!

We had Arvind (India) and Tanja (South Africa). They were both great. Our first night there our DS 6 wanted to go to the club so much that I left before dessert. Arvind insisted the rest of my family bring some strawberry shortcake back to my room for me, saying dessert is the best part. We were there Aug 7-14 2004.

The Jean from France who served us was a waiter at Palo this past August. We are sailing again in Oct and hope to have him then also. I recall he said something about leaving for his break on 10/16 which is after our sailing, so we should be able to get him.

??? (far left)

He'd be amazing at Palo's - I was going off David's email to me saying he was a head waiter now, but I would love to see him at Palo's - I'd have to go back more often to get both him and Florencia! *grin*

Fitz was on board Sept 03. I thought he was wonderful. So was Putra (from Bali).

We absolutely LOVE Liam Scott from Jamaica. He's become a friend rather than just a server. We were lucky enough to get him 3 years ago on our first cruise and have requested him the next two years after that. We've been through a wedding and a new baby for him. He's part of our extended family now. We know that everything will be perfect for us when he's around. Last year, he had Jen form London as his assistant server. She was a doll and a perfect foil to him. I just found out that we can book a cruise for this December and you can bet that we'll be asking for him again.

The4ofUs: That's him all right! When we made our ressie for Palo he informed us that if we wanted the very best, we'd request him for our server. We did, and were so glad....he was amazing! In Oct, it will just be my husband and I (as opposed to having our 4 adult kids with us) so we ordered the REAS. I already have my Palo reservation, but plan to call a few days ahead and request Jean. I hope I'm able to get him.....although it sounds like all the Palo waiters are nothing less than superb. Loved your photo....thanks for sharing!

We had Sachim (India) from the picture also.

He was great! Are dinner rotation was APl. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Has anyone had Goran (Croatia, I think) and Chevan? We had the pleasure last July. Goran kept the kids laughing with silly jokes and Chevan always made sure I liked my meal (I am very picky). He did give me a look when I asked for an additional entree one night, but it just could have been my unease at ordering something else.

Great topic, BTWprincess:

That's our Jean too! How long does a break usually last? Is there /any/ chance of him being back on the Magic by March? He rocked /so/ much.:Pinkbounc

Ditto on Gemma at Palo. She is awesome! :Pinkbounc

jeanneg - We had Jean as our waiter for dinner in Palo. He was wonderful! He also made some terrific suggestions on wine pairings. It was the best dinner we've had in ages.

Alekander from Croatia and Glenda from Trinidad on our 2002 Magic Cruise. We asked about him on our 8/28 and found out he is coming back in December.

Also during that cruise in 2002, there was a server for the table next to us named Atilla from Hungary. Lo and behold, as we entered the dining room on 8/28, there he was -- a Head server of the dining room now in his nice white suit! We walked right up to him and said, Atilla, you got promoted. Congratulations. And we COULD NOT believe it -- he looked right at us and said, oh, you were here a couple of years ago at Alek's table! Blew us away.

He was/is also a great magician. He did magic every single night for us and the tables around us this past cruise. And his tricks are amazing. I tried to bribe him with our deserts one night if we would tell us the secret of his one trick, but no, kept to the Magician's Code.

Won't say too much about our servers this cruise. While they were fun at first, they quickly seemed to tire of our tables and tablemates and by the last three nights were downright "snippy" and kept disappearing for long stretches of time!

Oh, well, 2 out of three cruises with great servers isn't bad.

Also a nod to the room stewards -- Jonathan from Philippine in 2000, Wannee on 8/28. Cannot remember our room stewards name in 2002 (have it written down at home), but she was from Trinidad.
