Best school name ever?

My high school's mascot was an engineer...a train engineer. Really.

My college's mascot was a Minuteman...like in the Revolution.

Neither is very intimidating, although the Minutemen were victorious when the odds were most definitely against them, so I guess that's good for a sports team, right?

Really? What district? I don't think they're in our conference.

As for Pansy Kidd, :lmao: We also have the "Cardinals" around here. Yes, a cute little bird. Very scary.

Williamsport PA is the millionaires.

The grapes - that's hysterical.

My college was the Colonels, but the NAACP made us stop using it....so now we are an "N" with a sword through it.....yep, watch out for those fighting "N's"...we'll get you!!! We don't even have an physical mascot at games:confused3 The other teams will bring their cowboy, indian, dog or what ever they are....and we have nothing...It's pretty sad.

In Robstown, Tx there is a school and they are the "cottonpickers":rotfl:

The photo of school :

Where he went to middle school. (Poteau, Oklahoma)
I wonder how many parents choose another school just because of the name...

OMG. Did you see the caption under the picture. The Mascot is the Raider.
They are Pansy Raiders! :lmao:

South of Cleveland is a small city called North Royalton. A good friend of mine lives there and I always chuckle when I pass the sign that says,
"Welcome to North Royalton
Home of the Bees"

I know it is their mascot, but didn't the first time. Pictured a swarm "welcoming" me. :scared: Now I get it, but I still think it is mildly amusing.

There is also a Cleveland 'burb high school where the sports teams are called the Arcs. Somebodyerother Brush High School. Somebodyerother Brush invented the arc light.

We played against the mighty Arcs in high school.

My kids went to the Pennichuck Middle School - PMS. DS never would wear the school spirit t-shirt they gave out as they always just used the initials.
Hey..I know where that is....

:)

I've always thought Wake Forest University's mascot the Demon Deacon" was not only dumb, but downright scary! Take a look:

In our home town, the high school teams are the Governors. We had a former Governor of New Jersey who was born and raised here. There is no actual "governor" at games and such... the logo just generally shows a top hat and cane. The funny part is that the varsity jackets had the town name arched across the top and "GUVS" arched across the bottom. (pronounced guhvs... as in short for governors) Everyone always asked... what are goovs?

In High School- we played a team who were the Gents short for Gentlemen and the girl's teams were the "Lady Gents" - I think the latter is a little scarier personally.

We have a Catholic high school who are the Saints- and their mascot is an angel with a black eye

Lets see my mascots through all the schools I attended: Vikings, Devils, Patriots (was Demons until a priest complained), Cardinals, Cougars and Cajuns... Oh and with the exception of the Cajuns (that was college) all were from Catholic Schools- I loved being the Devils lol

Oh and speaking of school names... There is a town in Louisiana called Hicks and their local high school is Hicks High

I don't know if I can beat a grape, but ...

My grammar school's mascot was a bridge. Our slogan? "A Bridge to Better Learning."

Prestigious New York University's teams are the Violets. Yes, the little, delicate purple flower. Maybe it's my sick sense of humor but it always struck me as funny since NYU is in the middle of Greenwich Village. I guess their opponents were supposed to be terrified of being perfumed off the field!

We were called the Whalers and my DD's are the Indians. Both definatley violent with the harpoons and the Tomahawks.

I thought this was really about best school names.

There is Walt Disney Elementary in a Rochester, NY suburb.

I wish I went to school there.

what is the mascot mickey mouse? who's afraid of Mickey?? :rotfl:

Hey I went to Walt Disney Elem. in Springfield Mo. My high school was also Brad Pitt's - Kickapoo High School - mascot is the Chief's. My bff from high school has a son going there now. They have t-shirts that say "FEAR the POO" ... I want one so BAD! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm not sure if is University of Deleware or another NE college but I know they are the Blue Hens. How scary is a chicken? In El Campo just southwest of Houston they are the El Campo Ricebirds. It even has it on the water tower in town.

My husband's HS mascot was the Knights. Not creative at all until you get to the drill team's name: "Ladies of the Knight". DH claims that they have since changed their names because too many members lived up to their name when he was in school ;) .

Three weirdest mascots I've ever heard of: NYU "Violets", the NC School of the Arts "Fighting Pickles", and the UC at Santa Cruz "Banana Slugs".

One of the oddest experiences of my life was going to an away football game where the opposing team were called the Screaming Turkeys. You can imagine what happened when one of their players managed to intercept a pass while he was wide open: an entire stadium full of fans yelling, "Run, you Turkey, RUN!!"

:rotfl: :rotfl2:
These are all great!:thumbsup2:

My DH's high school mascot was the Trojan! I giggle everytime I see his Trojan t-shirt. Their football rivals even decoreated the goal posts with trojan ******:lmao:
My College mascot was the Lumberjack! Beware trees the lumberjacks are comming!

We were called the Whalers and my DD's are the Indians. Both definatley violent with the harpoons and the Tomahawks.

Hey, you were our rivals! We were the Hilltoppers. Yeah, no real mascot but the picture in the foyer is a guy on a mountain wearing lederhosen.
I'm in college now and we're the Pride, as in lions. We apparently used to be the Flying Dutchman - now that's much better than some lions haha!

Around here are normal mascots for HS - the Pirates ...the town near by though is the Trojans. I grew up with Dolphins as my mascot - that's cause we were on the water - though the rec elementary football teams are the sharks.
