Best Savanna Room at AKL ????

Was able to get a great deal on a Savanna View room at the AKL with a Cast Member discount from a close friend of the family.

There will be 2 adults and 2 children on this 9 night trip in mid-May. 5/15 to 5/24, Do you think it will be crowded?

I am looking for feedback on which Savanna Room (floor, section, etc.) to request.

Any help would be great.

Lucky you! 10 days! We were there last year over the weekend of May 11th, and I wouldn't say it was crowded. Pleasantly busy, but not crowded. Arusha Savannah is the largest one, and if you request to be on the Zebra trail, it will be on the side of the building closest to the pool and food court. Sounds like this might be a convenient location if you have kids.

Normally we like to be on an upper floor, but we requested 2nd floor (the lowest one with savannah rooms), to feel closer to the animals. 3rd floor is the main floor, and rooms close to the lobby get a lot of traffic, which seemed like it could be noisy.

We had rooms 2507 and 2508 on Arusa and Uzima Savannahs, Zebra Trail. Both rooms had excellent views of their savannahs and since it was 2nd floor, we were so close to the animals. Also, we were close to the lobby, restaurants, and pool.

How do you word your request for these areas? I am trying to help a friend get her request for AKL ready. Thanks for your help.

I stayed at AKL with a savannah room last week, and it was fabulous. I put stickers of animals all over my fax with a note that read "consult the animals for various room requests." Each one requested something different; i.e., zebra trail, Arusha Savannah, 3rd floor, unobstructed view, near a feeding area. I called on Friday morning before we flew out and a CM confirmed that all my requests were granted. We ended up in Room 3409, and it was perfect! Great view every morning of zebras, giraffes, Ankole cattle and other animals; directly off the lobby (no noise to complain of--so I don't believe that to be a factor); close to restaurants and Mara; close to pool and hot tub (miss this the most as I am looking out the window at snow today).

In November, DH and I were in room 2511, Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail. The location was fantastic! We were close to the animals, and just a few steps to the stairs/elevator to the pool and Mara. Enjoy your stay no matter where you are located... AKL is a fabulous resort!

We called AKL when trying to send in our fax because we kept getting a busy signal on the fax number. So we called to see if we had the right number (we ended up finding 2 numbers) and they asked us if it was to fax in a room request. When we told them yes, they said, hold on, you can do it over the phone. So we were transferred to a very nice man who took our request and assigned us our rooms himself. He told us that they still were not guaranteed since anything could change by the time we checked-in, but we ended up getting those rooms he assigned to us. And the views were incredible!

We stayed in room 3501 last year, Zebra Trail.
It was perfect, right next to the elevator to go down to the pool or Mara or the Laundry. The ice machine was very close .
It was on the same floor as the lobby and just far enough away from the Arush Rock Overlook so that we always had an excellent view of the animals.

I wouldn't worry about it... you are getting a great deal and I'm sure you will have a nice view.

If fo some reason you do not like it - you can always ask to change rooms...

FYI - we stayed on the 5th floor - Kudo trail and the view was wonderful...

Rooms far away from the main building are also good if you can take the walk. I had many CM's tell me the animals like to stay at the ends due to the many public viewing areas near the main building. We were at the end of the 2nd floor and loved it. We felt like there was no one there but us when we were viewing the animals from our balcony. Have fun! It's now our favorite place.
