Hello! I am on Weight Watchers and going to the park in March. I was hoping to get some reccomendations for great salads or lighter food in DL, DCA, or DD. Thanks.

Riverbelle Terrace has a tasty BBQ chicken salad and I like Pizza Port's Starfield of Greens (the big one, not the side salad).

When you get there take a look at the park map. Dinning locations with a "apple" next to them have healthy options. Its pretty easy to find grilled chicken sandwiches, salads, ham/ turkey sandwiches, pasta with red sauce, etc, at the park. There are also fruit carts through out the parks. They have clean cold ready to eat fruit. Its about $3 a serving. Spendy for fruit, but not spendy (in ww points or money) compared to so many of the other snacks in the park!

The best fresh food I have found is at White Water Snacks in the GCH. They have excellent salads and fresh fruit plates.

I agree with WWS having great fresh fruit. Also for a different idea, I really really love the turkey sandwich at Carnation Cafe on Main Street for another non-fried option!!!

At CA go to the Pacific Wharf Cafe they have an apple chicken salad served in a sourdough bread bowl. It's one of the few things I'll actually use my points on. Yes, the delicious bowl is high in points but if you don't eat all of it, it doesn't use as many. Good luck, I always end up getting off track when I go to the DL so I hope you have better luck than I do. :goodvibes

Not the lightest salad in the world LOL, but I really enjoy the salad at the place next to Soarin (Taste Pilot?). It has lettuce, cucumber (yum!), olives, tomato, cheese, crispy chicken, and some little ranch 'chips'.

Pizza Port will do a custom salad for you - just ask!!!

I like the Greek salad with chicken or shrimp at La Brea DTD. It's the first restaurant outside the parks so it's not too far a walk.

I find it hard to believe that no one has mentioned the Monte Cristo Sandwich. Two slices of extra thick bread with turkey, ham and cheese dipped in egg batter and deep fried, then served with powdered sugar and berry preserves. Can't be more 26-30 points per serving. :dance3:

Seriously, in DL the salads in Rocket Redds are quite yummy, just get the dressing on the side. Another place to try is the Bengal BBQ which serves some very tasty chicken & veggie skewers. Also alot of the counter service locations are offering fresh fruit and veggie bags (carrots/celery) as side items. In DTD the Rainforrest Cafe serves a couple of fine (though very large) salads. I don't remember any meals in DCA that would be a good choice but both Whitewater Snacks & the Fresh fruit & Veggie cart by PT Barnum's Flea Market have healthy options. There was a smoothie place nearby but I'm not sure it's still open.

PS: Save a couple of points (3-4) for the Dole Whip

I like the side salad at the Plaza Inn. Its real greens, not iceberg lettuce. Also, that fried chicken meal is huge, my husband, son and I split one order, get a couple of side salads and that way I get a taste of some comfort food without going hog wild. Another option is to get a dill pickle from one of the carts. They are usually next to the fruit carts. 0 point snack. I also agree with Carnation Cafe as being a great place for fresher, figure friendly food (and some splurges too) that isn't much more than counter service. Last time I was at Disneyland (I am always on Weight Watchers it seems), I stayed on program and gained maybe a pound or two for a week trip. The walking helps!

Oh and at DCA I like to go to Taste Pilots and get a grilled chicken sandwich They have a fixins bar, so you can put on lots of romaine leaves and tomato slices for some veggies. It comes on a whole grain bun. And at all counter service places you can sub carrots for fries, or leave the fries off and save something like a dollar off your meal. Last but not least, sharing meals at DL is a great way to save points and money. The portions are big. If you only eat small meals that leaves some room for Mickey Bars!
