Best route to Disneyland in rush hour traffic!

I prefer Google Maps, but check the route it wants to send you on. I've ended up on some sketchy streets before due to reroutes around traffic. The freeway routes from LAX to Disneyland would be one of the following, 105 E to 605 S to 91 E to 5 S, 105 E to 710 S to 91 E to 5 S, 105 E to 110 S to 91 E to 5 S, 405 S to 110 N to 91 E to 5 S, or 405 S to 22 E to 5 N.

Thanks for that. I would definitely prefer to stay on the highway (freeway), so I will keep this for future reference.

Two alternate routes, just in case:

From LAX:
Take the 105 E, to the 605 S, to the 91E, to the 5 S, exit Ball/Disneyland Dr. (This is the one we use.)

OR

From LAX:
Take the 105 E, to the 605 N, to the 5 S, exit Ball/Disneyland Dr. -- this option has you backtrack a bit, but it uses fewer freeways.

On Wednesday (6-6), our plane landed at 6:40 am and we left Alamo at 8:15. We took the 405 to 22 to harbor. We were at our hotel at 9:15. Have a fun trip!

Was the shuttle to the rental places pretty easy to find after you landed? I’ve looked at maps of LAX, and it doesn’t seem overly complicated, but know it can be very different IRL.

I would advise against the second one because of the construction on the 5 between the 605 and 91

You'll exit the terminal on the arrivals level, there are two sections of traffic that run counter clockwise with a center divider in between. The divider has 4 or 5 colored sections of bus pickups, one of them will be rental car shuttles.

That's why it's not the top alternate. Waze should keep the OP updated on things like that. But in the Murphy's Law scenario where something awful happens on every route, at least the OP will know what her choices are.

Thanks! The multiple exits/ re-entries has me a little nervous! Where I live, they have started building express toll roads with few exits and entrances to zip you straight through to your destination. They need one straight to Disneyland!! :scratchin

I would recommend Waze also. I've found this route to the the fastest for the most part: 105E - 605S - 91E - 5S You can get in the carpool/HOV lane on the 91E and take that offramp to the 5S. I have Waze set up for fastest route, and when I'm given something different than what I usually take I'll check the different routes available. Sometimes the fastest route saves less than 5-10 minutes, and takes you through some different streets off the freeway that are also longer distance. When it comes to that I usually just stay on the freeway. (I work near LAX (Dina444444 lives in that area, too, for some perspective on our experiences. lol)

Disney does have direct exits off the 5 S HOV lane. The freeway interchanges don't take you on to surface streets though.

Glad for some locals here to offer your input!

I grew up in Tustin, but it’s been 30 years since I’ve been back, so I’m a little out of the loop! Ha ha!

So are there exits that only occur from the HOV lane?

Yes, there is a direct ramp from the HOV lane from the 91 E to the 5 S and from the 5 S to Disneyland Dr/Ball Road. However you can access both the interchange and the getting off at Disneyland Dr. while not being in the HOV lane.

Yes it was! It was right outside of the baggage claim.

Last Thursday I left LAX at about 8:15am and was in the park around 9:30am. I took 105E > 605S> 91E > 5S

Good information. Thanks!

That is good to know. The layout at LAX seems pretty straight forward.

I hate the layout of DFW and avoid it like the plague. So glad Southwest flies out of a different airport!

I recently picked my brother up from LAX around 10am and the traffic wasn't too bad. We were parked and heading to the parks at 11am.
