Hi,
We are taking my daughter to Disney for her 4th birthday, also her first trip to Disney. We are staying at BWV, also our first time there, despite owning the space for 4 years. We have been to Disney 5 times, last time in 1999. For this trip, we are getting 2 studios, preferred view, and a 1 bedroom, preferred view. We are bringing both sets of grandparents. Now for my questions: 1.) Can anyone tell me what would be the best room locations to request. I have read some posts where people state you can see the Fantasmic show and Illuminations from your room. Since we will have a 4 yr old and a 1 1/2 yr old, we will not be having late nights, but would like to see whatever possible from our balconies. 2.) Does Disney do anything special, should I make reservations for anything special since it is my daughters birthday?

Thanks in Advance. - Brian

briand1023.....first off, welcome to the DIS Boards.

I'm afraid I don't know much about BWV rooms to request, but I'm sure you'll get some suggestions.

As for your DD's birthday, make sure you stop in the Guest Relations center at MK to get a sticker that says "Today's my birthday" (or something to that effect). CM's who notice it throughout the day will try to pay a little extra attention to your daughter.

Also, for some ideas on what to do, you can look here:

Hi

The family and I just returned last week from our first trip "home" at BWV. We stayed in room 4130. It had a nice view of the canal, swan and dolphin hotel and the quiet pool. You could see some of the fireworks from Epcot with an obstructed view. I have a 5 and a 2 year old so we were in the room early some nights but you might find that you can walk to Epcot very easierly and quickly to catch the 9pm fireworks. The crowds were not that bad even at night during April school vacation week. We could get a good enough view at Epcot even getting there 15 minutes before the show.

Because it our first time we didn't realize how LONG the hallways were and we were about as far as you could get from the elevators...the kids loved it but keep that in mind when you get a room.

If you go to My Webpage there are some pics there of our view from the room. Just follow the Disney links.

Why don't you explain the circumstances to Member Services when you make the ressie (or call them back if you already have) and see what "magic" they can work for you as to room request. For the most part, they seem pretty familiar with layouts and which rooms would accommodate your needs.

I can't speak to the studio locations but last October we had a 1 bdr, preferred view, room 5041 to be exact. It was great! It was on the 5th floor overlooking the Characater Carnival store with a perfect Boardwalk view. We also had a wonderful view of Illuminations every night. In addition, it was not that far from the elevators. I know that has been an issue for some.

As far as the birthday is concerned, two years ago we celebrated my 10yo nieces birthday while staying at OKW. We hadn't let them know so Disney didn't do anything, but we ordered a birthday cake. They came in and brought the cake along with plates, napkins and cups and a couple of birthday balloons. I can't remember how much we spent but my nieces loved it.

We just returned from the BWV after a weeks stay. We had rooms 4003 ( 1 bedroom ) and room 4005 ( studio ).
They have a boardwalk view and are over the DVC sale center. A perfect view, but a distance from the elevator.
It seems the lower the number, the farther away from the elevator you will be.
