Best Rooms at CBR and AKL for young kids

Hello,

We are planning a trip to Disney World for the first week in June and have booked four nights at CBR and four nights at AKL with a Savanna view. I was just wondering if anyone has ideas for which rooms, floors, and buildings we should request that would be best for our twin daughters aged 4 turning 5 at Disney!

The kids both love pools and water/beaches in general, so I thought the CBR would be a good way to start off. I have heard the Jamaica section is nice, but how is it for young kids? I guess my concerns are more about proximity to the kid’s areas / food courts than anything else at this point. I do not want to have to walk 15 minutes to the places we will probably frequent the most. Looking at the map the Jamaica section looks like it may be a bit of a walk. Any thoughts or ideas on this would be helpful.

We are going to take in view that the Animal Kingdom Lodge offers for the second four nights, as I have read so many good things about it. I would also appreciate any comments to the best areas to request for this resort keeping the kids entertainment in mind. My wife and I have been to Disney 3 times before, although this is our first on-site stay, so we are most concerned about making sure the kids enjoy the stay. We will not be that interested in area’s that offer adult nightlife, as much as somewhere where we would be close to food courts, and the kid’s area.

Any help or suggestions from past visitors to these resorts would be most welcome.

Thanks.

If you're staying at CBR, you'd probably want Martinique or Trinidad North because they are the closest to the food court (in Old Port Royale) and the main pool. Jamaica is nice but it is a longer walk. Each village has its own small pool so you could even use that if you didn't feel like going to the main pool.
We've never stayed at AKL but were just at CBR in November. I would think you'd want a ground floor room. We had a ground floor corner room (two large windows) and loved it. The rooms are plenty large enough for your family and the noise from outside really doesn't carry into the room unless someone very noisy is walking past your windows.
The drapes shut out the light very well so shouldn't disturb anyone who might sleep late. It's been a while since our DSs were the age of your children, but I suspect they don't sleep late! Have a great trip.

Sandy is right, Martinique or Trinidad North are the closed to Old Port Royale which contains the food court, gift shops, sit down retaurant, and is right next to the main pool.

I have stayed in Martinique building 25 twice and it's an excellent location! Right behind this building is a beach with hammocks, beach chairs and lounge chairs. They have kid's meals that come in plastic buckets with shovels so the kids can play in the sand on the beach :) Also, Martinique 25 has no parking lot views which is nice if you have a standard room. :) This building is also a short walk to the Martinique Bus Stop! :) There is a playground on the beach in front of Martinique 22, and the quiet pool is next to building 24. All in all, Martinique 25 is as good of a location as you can get, if you like being close to the above things :)

Thanks for the replies so far!

Sounds like either Martinique or Trinidad North would be ideal. I will put in a request for one of those sections. Would you recommend asking for the specific buildings right away too, or is it better to wait until we check in to get in to the real specific requests?

Also, any suggestions as far as the Animal Kingdom Lodge? It does not seem to be as spread out as CBR, but I know it is hard to judge the size of a place by just looking at the maps.

Again, thanks for the responses.
