We have a split reservation for the first week in January - 3 nights at OKW and 4 nights at AKV. Would love to have input as to where to request best rooms. We have a 1-bdrm villa at each; DH, DS12, DD6(with 7th birthday while there!), and myself. Pretty set with ADRs, schedules, etc., just need help on area of each resort to ask for. Thanks for any insight!!

Well, I can only speak of OKW, because I won't be staying at AKV for another week & a half.

OKW is big! I would highly suggest requesting being near the main building. Also, to get your request, the earlier you check in the better, so try & get there as early as possible & be willing to wait for your room to be ready, to get the one you want. If you don't get close to the main building it will be okay. Worse comes to worse the DTD bus works as an internal bus & stops at the main building, before leaving the property. However, this past Dec it seemed every DTD bus was doing something different, so always just double check with the driver before getting on. Enjoy OKW, you'll love the size of the room!!!

Being near HH is no longer a request. It is a booking catagory. Maybe that haven't started that yet though. Just remember that ANY room at OKW is no farther from the front desk than the nearest bus stop, and there are 5 of those. Our favorite area at OKW is the South Point area. It is the farthest from the Hospitality House, but it is the second bus stop, so quick when coming back from the parks, and you will usually get a seat on ANY bus. Also, some of the buildings in that area have the best views! Buildings 45,46, 47, 55, and 56 are the best. I also recommend a top floor unit to avoid noise from upstairs neighbors and for best views.

At AKV, which category room did you book? That may determine your location more than any other factor. Since Jambo House has the only AKV villas so far, and they have been retro-fitted into the existing AKL configuration, there isn't that much leeway within each category compared to what will be available when Kidani is finished. You can "request", but location may be set by whether you're in a "value", "standard", etc. :goodvibes

I really appreciate folks' comments and suggestions. I had request buildings 25-26 for OKW and the only thing available at AKV was a value. I have 1-bdrm villas at both -- it was tough to get anything at the time we were aiming for in January. On another thread, I learned the AKVs are limited to either pool savannah or parking lot - I am really trying to avoid the parking lot!

Keep the comments and suggestions coming - Please

Just remember that only buildings 62, 63 and 64 have elevators at OKW, so if you're not on the bottom floor you'll have to walk up at least one flight of stairs & possibly as much as three flights. That wasn't a big deal for us because we're all adults, but I don't know how it is with young children that have just been in the parks all day. We always make sure to be on the bottom floor, the view's not as nice, but we've never carried about the view at OKW, it's a golf course. Now BWV or AKV that's a different story- I love their views. Some AKV value rooms are savannah view, so hopefully you'll luck out & get one of those. One thing I love about owning at AKV is I get first shot at the values! :woohoo: There such a great value! ;)

With a Value Room at AKV, you may wind up with a parking lot view. To quote LisaS from another DIS thread earlier this week:

Just for clarification, in Jambo House the Standard View rooms are all pool view. The Value rooms will have a view of the Sunset Savanna, or the pool area or the parking lot.

It will totally depend on how "full" the resort is during your stay about whether or not you will have a parking lot view. However, I'm keeping a good thought for you and know that you'll really enjoy AKV!

Can't answer about AKV, but as far as OKW goes, we prefer the Turtle Pond area. Its got a bus stop and a pool nearby and its quiet. At OKW, there really isn't a need to be near the main building unless you expect to spend a lot of time in the general store, Olivia's or the main pool.

I have really gotten some great info here (and by going through a lot of other threads) - the combined knowledge is a really cool thing to tap into!!
Thanks,
KC
