This will be our first time cruising and we are planning a cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy ship. We have our choice of a room midship on the 9th floor (9086) or a room on a lower floor but more towards the aft of the ship (7124). Both rooms have verandas. Any suggestions on which would be best to avoid sea sickness? Any other considerations to think about in picking one of these rooms? I am traveling with my husband and our three kids (3 yr, 6 yr and 9 yr old).

I suffer from sea sickness, so besides taking my Bonine religiously during the cruise, we always select a mid-ship cabin. If I were you I would chose #9086 rather than the aft cabin.

I guess it can depend on the level of seasickness you anticipate you will have. The lower and more central the room the better you are in terms of stability. If you aren't terribly susceptible to motion sickness then it just matters on preference, since you are moving from a central upper berth to a lower more aft berth. I will say I have been in a similar room in terms of 7124s location and those hallways are LONG in either direction to the elevators or stairs. I would think that those muster stations are also indoors. Those on deck 9 and 10 are usually on deck.

We suggest you call your family Doctor and ask what med would be best for you and your family as the Doc would know you all.

As listed above, a.lower deck, midship as to aft and aft. There is the least movement in that area.

Have a great cruise.

9th floor is good but the 7 th not so bad but aft is bad, you need to avoid the real lower deck rooms the closer to the waves the closer to the engines the worse it us, lower decks have small random movements higher decks its ironed out. Best advise us to view the horizon at the widest point and get fresh air, a verandah is good just do not look directly down.

Seasickness is caused when the ears detect movement but your eyes say walls do not move, you need to give the brain input to work it out, an inside area or room will not help and feel claustrophobic, a higher mid deck mid ship room is best.

Agree never get medical advice from a cruise board go to your medical advisor.
You do not know the skills or experience of people here I would only Eve do what my doctor says.

I dont think it matters which room you have. I get very sea sick. I use the sea sick bands and also sea sick medicine and I am good but you are not in your room as much as you are all over the rest of the ship for most of the day (i.e in the dining rooms, on the deck by the pool, in the theater etc....) so that's when the sea sickness will hit the most in my experience.
