Best room number to request at Dolphin?

I found out we have been placed at the dolphin hotel for our land portion of our cruise in march. I have asked our TA to request a view room but would we be better off calling and asking for a specific room number and will the dolphin do that ahead of time or do you get assigned whatever they have the day you check in? I would rather know our room ahead of time so I can have a surprise delivered for my kids that will be there when we arrive. Does anyone have a specific room they recommend? What would you say is the best location for viewing the parks from the room?

It is usually not a good idea to request a specific room at a hotel. If someone is already in that room from a stay that starts before yours, you could get put in a spot totally different from what you really want. Your best bet would be to request say, a room on a high floor that overlooks Epcot.

Just be careful about a water view. The hotel has wings and a water view can have you looking across an inlet of water toward another section of the building. When we were there last, they were very accomodating to find the best room. Consider signing up for a Starwood Resort (Sheraton) membership card. No fee. There is a special check-in line (I believe) and they go overboard to accomodate. We had trouble with our a/c when we were there and when we called to have it checked, the Front Desk asked if we were Starwood members. When I told them yes, they sent up a box of chocolates for our trouble! In this case, membership really does have its privileges!
