Hi all. We've just decided to change resorts to Caribbean Beach. With all of the construction, etc. going on at that place with the pool being closed, do any of you have any suggestions on where we should state our room preference? We would like a room near a pool with a slide (we have two small kids) and close to the bus transportation as well as food areas. Not having been to CBR before, I am not sure if this is even doable, but your suggestions/advice are appreciated! Thanks! :)

I would book a preferred room if you want to be super close to the food court. We were in Aruba last time. It isn't a preferred room. It was a quick walk across the bridges to the food court. We were right next to the pool which was great. It was a short walk to the bus stop as well as to the food court, but we didn't mind. All the bus stops are going to be a short walk. There is a bus stop at OPR I think. We loved CBR. I would not hesitate to request Aruba or Jamaica again. I have pictures from 06 below if you are interested.

When are you going? We have been to CBR twice and love this resort. They are redoing the main pool right now and I believe its going to be under construction for awhile. That is the pool with the slide. Each section of the resort has its own quiet pool. Martinique and North Trinidad are the closest buildings to the main pool and food court. Just a short walk.
My boys totally loved this resort. Enjoy:thumbsup2

Jamacia was great. We were the first pick up at the bus stop for the day, very close to food court, very quiet area and I also believe this is one of the pools that has one of the new small slides added. The walk to the food courts was great because you were crossing the "island" with its calypso music and tropical feel the kids thought we were on a pirate hunt during every crossing. We loved it !!

I agree with one of the other posters......Jamaica is a great location. We were in Jamaica building 41 and the walk to the bus stop was about 2 minutes. The walk to the quiet pool is about a minute. The walk to Old Port Royale took, maybe, 5 minutes. I really enjoyed the walk too. You get to cross through the island in the middle of the lake and was very pretty.

They have installed a slide at Barbados and they were supposed to install one at Jamaica.

thanks for your input everyone! we will be there next month from April 11 to 16th. Is there any way to find out for sure if they've put the slide in the room close to Jamaica? Also, any experience with rooms in Jamaica area? Or are all the rooms pretty much very clean and nice?

I did note that they only have Water view rooms available and not Preferred rooms due to the construction.

We loved our room in Barbados. We had the Barbados quiet pool as well as the one in Martinique. We also had only about a five minute walk to the main area. It was quiet as well. I would request that location again when I stay there. And for sure they have a slide there. Its a lovely resort, absolutely gorgeous, my favorite moderate!

We were building 16 by the way.

I don't think the construction has anything to do with the fact that preferred rooms are not available.

I will take a ride over one of these days and let everyone know if the slide has been added in Jamaica.

I agree with the others. If the slide is installed at Jamaica, it's just a quick walk across the bridge to the food court, etc. at Old Port Royale, and there's a playground on the Jamaica beach if that matters to you.

CBR is our favorite!!!:cool1:

Does anyone have any pics of the slides added to the smaller pools?

Thanks

Safetymom has one posted on the first page of the CBR FAQ thread....:thumbsup2 ... along with mannnnnny others!

We stayed at Trinidad North - Building 33. The bus stop was seconds from our room. And Old Port Royale was relatively close. However, the pool construction is between Building 33 and Old Port Royale. You would have to go around the construction to the food court, etc.

What are they doing to the pool? will it look the same when renovation is done? (sorry to go OT)

It is a totally new pool complex. The slide area will be pirate themed. There are links to the pictures of the construction in the first few posts of the CBR FAQ. Link is listed below.

The construction is not impacting the walkway leading to Trinidad North so no problems staying there.
