Hi everyone,
Made reservations for a kingbed room at POFQ for next year, but please help me with something.
I have paid extra for the kingsized bed, okay I can imagine that, but how about the view? Do I have to chose between a kingbed or a nice view or do I get both now?
Or have they just put all those kingbedrooms facing the parkinglot:D ?
Was it the best choice to pay for the kingbed and request a view or did I do something stupid, please tell me!!!

Don't worry about the view. POFQ is beautiful no matter where you stay. Even the buildings facing the parking lots have courtyards and green lawns in front. It's more important to be comfortable than to have a great view in the moderates because you don't have balconies. Since you can't sit outside and enjoy the view... what's the point? Really, you are only going to enjoy any views while you are walking to your room, so if you'd like to enjoy the vistas, have a stroll.... it's a beautiful resort for a romantic stroll...

On our honeymoon we paid extra for the King bed and were stuck with the location they gave us. Unfortunately, we ended up in Building 4 right outside of the employee bus stop.

Building 4 is great for its location - closest to bus stop and next door to the food court, but if you are right by the employee bus stop, you may notice some noise. We did. Granted this was 11 years ago, but at that time, the employee buses were like school buses, not the nice buses that go to the parks. They were loud. We went back down to the front desk and asked them if any other rooms were available and they gladly moved us to Bldg 3 with a view of the courtyards.

If you are concerned about your view and want something close to the building (every thing is close since it is a small resort), request Building 5 (or 2). You will not get a parking lot view, it is close to the pool and food court and is close to the bus stop.

You can make a request (which isn't a guarantee) and hope you get it. Since you have the guarantee of a king, I would request Bldg 5, corner room (the extra window is nice). Also, don't forget to request non-smoking if that is a concern and upper floor if you are concerned about ground floor placement.

Hope that helps.

We stayed there at the beginning of October and booked a std view room. Upon check in, we asked if any upgrades were available. The CM gladly looked and worked hard to get us into a river view room. It pays to ask.

Have a great trip.

I agree. I wouldn't get a waterview room. Its a little bit wasted. Although people may think I am crazy, we really liked bldg. 1 when we stayed at POFQ last June. Its away from everything and so quiet you can't hear anything! Also, its the beginning of the jogging path, so people usually don't go that far. We were lucky in bldg. 1 and were able to stand outside at the railing watching the sun come up on the water with our coffee with no disturbances.

Bldg 5 at POFQ is smoking. We just got back and were in bldg 3 on the 2nd floor facing bldg 2 and looking out onto a "street"/sidewalk - very well themed I must admit. We did not have a king bed though so that won't help. The majority of the rooms have beautiful views of some sort of courtyard or fountain.

Are you sure that the whole building 5 is smoking?
Cannot imagine that there are enough people left in the US that smoke to fill a whole building with :D ! But okay I am from Europe and smoking is a different story here, but actually we don't smoke and therefore prefer a non-smoking room.
But I sure think that I have made a good choice with POFQ, you're all very enthousiastic about the theming.
Cannot wait to pack the suitcases...
So the best I can do is to request a cornerroom in building 2 or 5, when there are nonsmoking rooms as well in that building?
But actually all rooms are great::yes::

Bldg 5 is not smoking, at least the side towards the pool wasn't.

Building 5 is NOT a smoking building. I called the PO-FQ's front desk (407-934-5000, ask for front desk) and asked if building 5 is smoking. The CM said NO, and further said that Building 2 IS smoking. These are the people that place you in the rooms, so I would hope they know what they are talking about.

If you are looking for a specific room that would have a king-bed, courtyard view, non-smoking, corner on an upper floor, request room 3318. We had this on our honeymoon and it is in a great location. You are looking out towards a fountain by Bldg 2, and just off the main East-West street (Rue d' Baga) that runs through the property behind the main buildings. I seen a post sometime in the last month from someone who stayed in that same room and they said it was a king room.

Hope that helps.

I hope that they don't laugh at me when I request a special roomnumber:D
My worries are gone at all, I am sure we will get a wonderful room at POFQ!
Can someone tell me about the foodcourt as well? What do I really have to try?

According to my notes, all of buildings 2 and 4 and the top two floors of building 6 are smoking. Has this changed or is it still the case?

Apparently there are enough people smoking to have 2 and a half buildings for smoking guests.

Not all the rooms in all 2.5 buildings are smoking, just select groups of rooms. I think it's less than 10% of overall capacity now.

lfontaine - I can say for certain that the top floor of building 6 is not a smoking floor. We were in room 6347 the first weekend of October and it was a Non-Smoking room.

I called guest services at the French Quarter and asked specifically if bldg 4 is smoking. The answer was NO.
Hope this is correct.
