Best ROOM at Disney?

I've stayed at Deluxe, Moderate, and Value resorts and when it comes to the actual rooms it seems like there is little difference. You might get a bigger bed, an extra sink, slightly more space, or a balcony, but it doesn't seem like there is much else.

So I am wondering what everyone feels is the best ROOM they ever had without accounting for the resort (ie. not pools, location, restaurants, monorail, etc.)

Well I suppose if we are supposed to ignore the size of the room, the size of the beds, the presence or absence of a balcony, the appointments of the vanity area, there's not much left. The decor of the room and the view out the window/balcony door is about all that's left.

I suppose, given those constraints, I would have to pick a GF room with a MK view. My second choice would be a savannah view at AKL. But I would never select a resort just based on that.

lol yeah I guess I kind of limited it. When I think of the best rooms I've EVER stayed in I remember jacuzzi tubs, marble floors or bathrooms, deluxe bedding, pillow menus, ocean view, dining room table, separate bedroom, etc. I imagine some of these are possible in suites.

Somehow I doubt you'll find a place with all of those features in a WDW resort room.

Yah, the ocean view is highly unlikely.

I haven't stayed in any, but some of the suites are nice. The Yellowstone Suite at Wilderness Lodge or the Walt Disney Suite at the Grand Floridian would probably top my list -- the Yellowstone suite has the best view, IMHO.

Personally, I like a full kitchen, so if I were to stay onsite, I'd be "stuck with" DVC, which is even less deluxe than the regular rooms. Disney is about the location and the theme. Marble floors and pillow menus? Luxury? Eh, not so much. Magic? That, they've got.

The best room we ever stay in (on WDW property) was on the 14th floor of the CR. The room was very large. I think our bathroom was the size of our POR room. The view was spectacular. The balacony enormous.

I guess that's why I have a hard time with finding a reason to stay at the Grand Floridian. It looks beautiful but the room looks pretty much like all the other (less expensive) deluxe hotels. I had seen some pictures of the Honeymoon Suite at Wilderness Lodge and thought it looked really nice and not even as expensive as some of the rooms at Grand Floridian.

I think the 14th floor Contemporary Suites themselves are stunner, but for some reason I don't like the view from the 14th floor as much as I do the view from the eighth floor or so.

artemis908, I can't link to them, but if you poke around with google, there's a site with a whole collection of pics of the various suites. I don't know if it's all of them (Disney uses more than one name for some ), but it looks pretty complete to me. Although I have to say, I think a lot of the photography you'll find here is better, although it's maybe more ephemeral. The best collection of Yellowstone Suite pics on the Dis boards -- and by far the best pics I've seen -- all the links have died.

We will spend 5 nights at Disney Cabins, we will be travelling with our 12 year old daughter and 15 year old son. Is the pool in this area good, or "just a pool"
I can consider changing to Port Orleans or another moderate resort if you think the pool will be better somewhere else.
We plan on relaxing in the resort the day we arrive prior to dinner at Hoop Dee Doo, the we will head to parks

For us it was a one bedroom suite 14th floor Magic Kingdom view at the Contemporary Resort. Undoubtedly the best part was the $300 per night rate I paid for Atrium Club (upgrade)

The problem is that at WDW, all resort rooms are fairly comparable. YOu are really paying addlt for park proximity, nicer theming, slightly better toiletries/bedding, onsite restaurants.
The rooms themselves are basically the same. It all depends on where you want to be close to.
And because of this I can say that one of the best rooms I've had was room 4441 at Pop!!! Why?? It was incredibly quiet, the view of the lake was really nice, it was a very short walk to the pool, a slightly longer walk to the buses.
But....I own DVC at both BLT and BWV, so love to stay there as well.
It's really not all about the room amenities when I'm at WDW. Now, a resort at Cocoa Beach??? Heck yeah. I want to be able to see the ocean!!!
Don't much care about marble floors or jacuzzi tubs. I have jacuzzi tubs when I stay DVC...seldom use them. They kind of make me nervous. Who knows how well they are cleaned out each time.

With out a doubt for convenience and location, it was ground floor by the bowling pin pool at Pop.

For sheer elegance and space, it was the suite at the Swan Dolphin! What a surprise that was!

I don't know if we can ever travel with out separate bathrooms again! (Lol
