Best restaurants to share meals

We've talked about vouchers, now let's talk about the best places and menu items to split that will fill up two people.

DH and I shared the combo plate at the Moroccan counter service place (~$10) and were quite content with the amount of food for two.

We also liked the rotissarie chicken and potatoes ($6.99) for a healthy meal - that can be found at a few locations in WDW. We had it in MK (the place across from the Speedway)

That's a good question and something I'm interested to find the answer for. Here are some of the things we plan to use them for and according to the menu's look the best to share.

We plan on going to pepper market and since it's for dinner, will probably each use a voucher, but the steak dinner with vegetables and a potato and dessert looks like it would be plenty for 2 (if my husband wasn't such a pig);)

We plan on sharing one at beaches and Cream, probably get a double cheeseburger with onion rings or fries and one of those huge, yummy sounding desserts.

We also plan on sharing one at MK at probably Cosmic Rays and getting a double cheesburger with an extra bun and then using the fixin's bar.

I'm anxious to see other ideas!

Cosmic Rays chicken and mashed potatoes is enough for an adult and a child. Pecos Bill's in Fronteir Land has hotdogs plenty enough for 2. They are jumbo and footlong. Also the toppings bar has plenty of extras enough to even make a salad. If you go to Downtown Disney - Wolfgang Pucks has a chicken dinner that is actually a WHOLE chicken - plenty for 3 - costs about $14.95, but great way to eat at a neat sitdown restaurant and not spend $40. Mexican counter restaurant in Epcot has meals plenty for 2. As well as some of the restaurants in Future World.

Wait a second, are you talking about sharing meals period, or sharing with the Q & C Vouchers. I was listing places to use the vouchers to share, therefore furthering savings. Feeding 2 people for 11.50, add a kids meal and $15.00 for our family!

Just wanted to get that cleared up, so you are talking about just sharing any meal right? Not using Q&C vouchers?

We share meals almost everywhere in Disney because the portions are huge (which is why so many of the people are too).

Specifically, Wolfgang Puck's Express - a pizza serves two. A pasta dish serves 2. A chicken meal serves 2.

Kona Cafe my wife and I got one appetizer and one entree and it was still too much food for 2.

Many places, the 3 of us will get 2 meals and maybe one extra side and that's plenty for all of us. At a place like Cosmic Ray's, 2 of us will just get a sandwich (no fries). One of us will get a sandwich, fries and drink and all 3 of us share the order of fries and drink. Saves money and calories.

Last trip, we averaged just under $17/person/day for food including all meals and snacks. Sharing and drinking mainly water is what really helps keep the costs down.

My DH and I shared an appetizer, entree and dessert at The Flying Fish on the Boardwalk and walked out pleasantly full.

Both Rain Forest Cafe and House of Blues give you HUGE bowls of pasta which are easily shared. :)

The burgers at RFC are huge! We always split a meal there! Last time we went I ordered the chicken quesadilla appetizer, for my free app. with my Safari Club card. I couldn't even eat all of the appetizer, much less share the burger with my dh! :earseek: And, yes, we are eaters! No little portions here, please! :teeth:

DH and I (both big eaters) and DDs will be almost 2 and 11 (also big eaters) I was hoping they would have a children's Q&C, but I don't believe they do. DH and I used one Q&C each and shared with DD1 last year and had too much food, but I'm wondering if it was "too much" enough to feed an 11 yo girl. I am afraid that using 2 Q&Cs and then ordering another side will cost more than just getting 3 counter service meals without the Q&Cs. I would love to have some opinions on this from people who have done one or the other. DH and I and DD1 split a lunch voucher at AK RFC for dinner twice. I was thinking of getting a child's voucher and an adult voucher this year so there should be definetly more than enough food at that meal. Please let me know if you found the Q&Cs+ a side to be a bargain, or if the bigger bargain was skipping the Q&Cs altogether.
We would go to Pepper Market once, because I like to eat there. We would also probably go to the Japanese and Chinese counter service in Epcot, and a few times at the AS food courts (I found the vouchers to be a bargain for an adult there as well, when ordering desert).

With Q & C vouchers we shared at Beaches and Cream and still cound not finish our dessert! We shared at Pepper Market and we were stuffed and even took our dessert back in a carry out and ate it for breakfast the next morning.

With VKL's we shared at the Brown Derby(it was good) and at RainForest(portions there are huge and dessert unreal). At the Rain Forest we shared the crab dip and corn chip appetiser and it would have fed 3 or 4 people. The main meal was the Crab stuffed lobster and a huge steak. We never did find it on the menu but the server suggested we add the steak to our $39. lobster meal! For dessert there we had an apple cobbler a la mode and it was giant! They also allowed us to get a frozen smoothie so we were completely stuffed after having shared one meal!

If I had to do it over again I think I would have gotten more Q & C's and eaten more meals at Pepper Market! They had such a variety there and I would have loved to have tried some other foods.

We don't use the vouchers, but DH and I share lots of meals everywhere! At 50s Prime time we shared the chicken sandwich. We told the waiter we would be sharing when we placed our order. When it came from the kitchen, we each had a plate with half a chicken sandwich on it, and I swear they gave each of us a whole order of fries, but only charged us for one! It was plenty of food for us. We didn't even have room for dessert! All the CMs seem very used to people sharing and are really helpful.

I agree. This is probably because they realize the serving sizes are obscenely large and far too much for one person to eat. This is a frequent comment from the non-US visitors since portion sizes in the rest of the world are not nearly as huge as what has become the norm here.
