We are staying at the DoubleTree and I was wondering if there are any good restaurants nearby.

Thanks

Go up to the light at 535 - Crossroads Plaza. Turn left. Past one more light. Turn right into the small plaza. Eat at Giordano's. Repeat. It is a must stop for us every trip. Best pizza - both thin and deep dish - you'll find.

I agree! The deep dish pizza at Giordano's is incredible! We make it a point to stop at least once each trip. :thumbsup2

A few more that you might want to consider which are along 535:

Sizzler... the food is pretty good and the price for the steak/buffet is very reasonable although service is hit-or-miss.

Golden Corral has a wonderful breakfast buffet with Made To Order omelets!

Chevy's... my favorite Fajita Burrito! I've never actually dined inside the restaurant, but have had take-out multiple times! The platter comes with rice and beans and they always send along chips and salsa too!

Chili's... again, I haven't dined inside, but have had take-out multiple times! Fajitas are excellent and the kid's chicken tenders w/ mashed potatoes meal is good too (and plenty of food for me! lol)

Olive Garden... great lasagna/salad/breadsticks! Another take-out favorite for us!

CiCi's Pizza (on Palm Parkway)... it's not so much that the food is great, but it's an All You Can Eat buffet and very inexpensive.

Actually at Downtown Disney is The Rainforest Cafe. The food is so-so, but it's an entertaining place to eat and the atmosphere is quite fun.

Thanks everyone I appreciate it all the help.

Does anyone know if Gordanos (sp) has a kids menu? Also, is it a sit down (waitress) restaurant or is it order at the counter like a regular pizzeria?

This is the closest #3 on map below, #6 is Downtown Disney.
We go often when in Orlando. Last visit I had Garlic Shrimp, 35 of them on bed of pasta with garlic bread, $9.95.
Their chicken nacho starter is big enough to feed 4-6 people. 3 of us could not eat it. that cost about $11-12, glad we didn't order anouther course.

Wow - and a map too! Thank you!

Be sure to check the local papers or magazines about what to do in Orlando etc for coupons for Gordianos.

Orlando Sentinel is usually a good one to get on a Sunday. We usually pick that one up every weekend we are there.

we "stumbeled" onto the black angus steakhouse last week when we went to dtd to see cirque de solei. we were there at 4pm so we had the early bird special--a filet and shrimp for 12.99 that was really good. on the trip we ate at texas de brazil, dixie crossroads--and the steak and shrimp at the black angus was every bit as good, and you certainly can't beat the price

I really appreciate this thread. We are booked to go in mid-June, but I have just read about the $5/person surcharge on Disney dining buffets and all-you-can-eats, and this is really making me mad. Are there any "fun", kid-friendly restaurants near Disney (we would be at Bonnet Creek, if we still go then)?

Great thread! We are always looking for good offsite restaurants to try that aren't too far away!

Chevys has become one of our favorites too!

Another one that hasn't been mentioned here yet is Romanos Macaroni Grill. (We don't have a Macaronni Grill anywhere near us so it is a real treat for us to eat at one on vacation!) Go up to the light at 535, Crossroads Plaza, and turn left. I think you go past one light and then it will be on your left hand side. If I remember right it is right by Chillis.
