Best Restaurants for Large Family (of 12)!!!!

Our family of 12 plan on going to Disney this Christmas We want to eat together for dinner in the evenings. Which restaurants are the best for large family gatherings? Which are the worst?

We have two children (everyone else - adults) I was planning on Garden Grille, Liberty Tree, Primetime Cafe, Whispering Canyon, the new T-rex restaurant???, Le Cellier, (not sure what else....)

Are we going to have MAJOR issues with getting tables together? We really want that to be the one time of the day we come together....


OH...I forgot we also plan on going to the restaurant at the "sea's" pavillion at epcot....I forget the name of it....

You might be able to get a table for 12 at Hoop De Doo at Ft. Wilderness. Chef Mickey's might be another one that would work out.

Hi there! We did a grand gathering once and there were...let me count...12 of us. We went over thanksgiving and had dinner that day @ yachstmans. we also did spoodles, le cellier, chef mickey, and CRT with no problems and were all seated together. you should be fine!

Boma at Animal Kingdom. Had a party of 12. Sat together at one big table. Great variety and taste for all. Beautiful lodge also. Have fun!

The only challenge you might run into is dining times. With a group of that size a lot of the restuarants will only allow you to book at the beginning or the end of their serving period. This can seem like a pain to people, but it's the only way the location can try and keep you all together. Just keep that in mind.

As for places that are good for large groups... Chef Mickey's will give everybody some Disney magic, your dining agent might try to get you to take Trail's End at Fort Wilderness (but it's hard to get to and not exactly a crowd pleaser if this board is to be trusted), if you're having trouble booking due to the holidays (fingers crossed, you won't ) try the Grand Floridian Cafe or the Yacht Club Galley as they are both excellent locations great for larger groups but sadly overlooked IMHO, my last suggestion is for Raglan Road because they've got a lot of space and it can't fail to be a hit with all the adults in your party.

We went Dec. 15-22, 2007 with 12 in our group (3 families). I called at exactly 180 days out and only got one or two together; I kept calling back for the places that could not get us at one table and we ended up getting a few more changed to accomodate us all.

Concourse- 12
'Ohana- 12
Mama Melrose- 12
San Angel- 12 (really it was 6/6 split, but they were right next to each other)
LeCellier-12 (a 4/4/4 split; but as before- the tables were literally right next to each other- really felt like one long table)

Kona Cafe- 6/6 split- this time the tables were back to back w/one another so we did adults/kids... my 8 year olds really felt 'grown up'! (In 2004 my family (14) ate here at one big table... so it is possible)
LTT- 8/4 split; but tables right next to one another- I mean I could literally just turn around and help DD8 cut up her turkey!!
Crystal Palace- 8/4 split; just like the others- split, but right on top of each other.
WCC- 4/4/4 split; ADR CM said they could accomodate 12, we just couldn't go at time when that kind of space was available

In 2004 we had 14 together at Chef Mickey's and Hoop-Dee-Doo

'Ohana is very friendly to large groups. Both times we've been there, we've seen way more than 12 together, once a large family gathering for an anniversary party, and the other time a rehearsal dinner.
