Best Restaurants for Kids?

My kids are young - 3 and 5 - and I know they will be tired after a day at the parks.

I want to make sure that I have dinner reservations each night...but I'm not sure where to make them!

I know my kids would enjoy the Rainforest Cafe - other suggestions?

We are staying at the DLR if that makes a difference with your suggestions.

I'd suggest you take a midday break, go back in the parks and eat there. I would also suggest that you do some counter service meals. At that age, night after night of dinner service, waiting for the wait staff to serve my kids was a little too much.

Also, with Rainforest, both of my kids were deathly afraid of the thunderstorm when they were 3 years old. They eventually out grew it and many kids are not afraid, but just be aware that some are.

Within the park, which is where we usually eat, my kids do have some favorite resturants. My oldest (who was 6 at the time) loved Blue Bayou, while the younger 2 could have cared less. Other than that, I would say there favorites are Red Rocketts Pizza Port, Village Haus, and Riverbelle Terrace. Basically, anywhere that serves pizza or chicken and they are good to go.

Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel is really great for kids. If you don't want to take them there for dinner after a day in the parks, there is always breakfast

No one has mentioned White Water Snacks yet. A big time favorite of ours. Located in GCH, sort of out of the way, towards the end of the building past the entry into DCA. It is almost always quiet. It is counter service. There are a few video games, which your age kids can probably play on without coinage. The CM's there are always nice and helpful. And it is fairly fast.

If you want to drive off site, many folks love MIMI's next door to Howard Johnson.

Also, always relieable is the Lilo and Stitch restaurant at Paradise Pier. Seems to be quiet most of the time. Food is mediocre and expensive, but delivered quickly and CM's are helpful and cheerful, and because the restaurant is usually slow, the kiddos can get down and look around a bit while waiting.

Beware the giant twisty straws that come tied in a knot. When untied and pointed down the ingredients end up covering your kiddo. Order sprite, white milk or water.

I totally agree with the poster about doing a big lunch and a counter service dinner or grab something to go to eat at your hotel. Whitewater Snacks at GCH is highly recommended for great counter service options. This is our plan with our young kids and it has worked well on other non-Disney vacations. Plus, it's nice to have the break during the day and give everybody a chance to rest. Waiting for meals after a day in the parks can make for crankiness that can evolve into a major meltdown. The only thing I want erupting at the Rainforest Cafe is my volcano dessert, not my 2 year old..

I have to totally agree with this!!!! All the resturants are great for kids. One time we went to Tortilla Joes and first my niece spilled her soda all over the floor. Well, the wait staff was so gracious and they cleaned it up so fast. Even the manager came out to help. Then, my youngest son bumped his drink and spilled it. Again, they were so nice about it and cleaned it up. They insisted that we not help as I was offering to mop it up myself. Finally, and I kid you not, my nephew knocked his plate on the floor and by now, we were all mortified. They were just honest accidents made by tired kids and we were all appologizing to the waitress. She was so kind and just laughed at us and said, "This is Disneyland. Trust me, your kids are not the first ones to have had multiple spills. Its no big deal!" Believe me, she got a great tip!

OK, at any other place, we would have probably been ushered out of there and asked to never return but that is what I love about DL!

Another good thing about White Water Snacks is that usually there is ample seating. Sometimes some of the other counter service areas do not have enough places to sit, especially if you go at peak time.
