What are your favs and why (not including Blue Bayou or other more expensive restaurants like Napa Rose etc.)?

Within DL?

Within DCA?

Within DTD?

Within Disney Hotels?

Thx for thoughts!

Well atmosphere can mean a lot of different things I guess. What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? Romantic, festive, just a place with entertainment?

Big thunder ranch BBQ has great food and fun entertainment. But the only place that comes to mind for my definition of atmosphere w/in DL is blue bayou. Nothing else like it that I am aware of.

you're right it does mean different things to different people.

For me, I would look for pleasant (pretty, quiet area) surroundings and fun or interesting feel (ie maybe something a little different than standard fare)

Within DL = Blue Bayou
Within DCA = not a lot of choices, but edge to Wine Country Trattoria
In DTD = Catal
In the hotels = Steakhouse 55 and Napa Rose

Here's two for totally different reasons.

Golden Horshoe- Billy Hill and the Hillbillies are awesome, check show times!

Critter country restaurant,(forget the name)- go underneath and have a quiet meal alongside the river. Peaceful and beautiful.

DL = We enjoy the River Belle Terrance, sitting on Patio and watching the river traffic. Same can be said for the Hungry Bear.

We really liked Hungry Bear when we went there many years ago (quiet and peaceful). I hear the fried green tomato sandwich and chili burger are very good

Cafe Orleans is a great place! I really enjoy sitting out on the patio and looking out and enjoying the view while eating some really good food!

PCH Grill is nice for dinner if you are looking for a quiet, laid back kind of meal. While the restaurant still has festive touches, it is usually low key in the evenings, and we find very relaxing.

Very subjective...but my choices...

DL...Table service...Blue Bayou, Counter service...Hungry Bear

DCA ..Table service...Ariel's outside patio....Counter Service...Boardwalk pizza and pasta area

DTD...not really a fan of any restaurant there

The DL resorts....We enjoy Storyteller's. It always gives us an excuse to walk and experience GC when we aren't staying there. It's a beautiful restaurant.

Within DL - Blue Bayou, hands down

DCA - Wine Country Trattoria is okay, but if you take a few steps further I'd actually go for Storytellers or the Hearthstone bar in the GCH if Napa Rose is more than you want to spend. Lovely and elegant.

DTD - Rainforest Cafe. We only go for dessert, but the landscaping and animatronics are fun for adults and kids alike. We're easily amused though we do love the lava cake (1 slice for 4 people, or more!). Getting drinks and appetizers at Uva is nice for people watching and listening to music, too.

Café Orleans is my favorite in Disneyland itself. The Blue Bayou is hyped as the "atmospheric restaurant," but given it's noisy interior and people dressed for a theme park (not a meal), it falls flat and fake for me. Café Orleans works because of the venue and the hustle and bustle of the people walking by really does remind one of a cafe on a street in New Orleans.

In DCA I think Wine Country Trattoria would be my choice. While I like Storyteller's, it feels corporate. Perhaps if the ceiling were lower and it had less light, I would consider the atmosphere more enticing.

Within DL? We love Hungry Bear and French Market. Hungry Bear is great for relaxing..the view is pretty, it's cool when you're super hot. French Market for people watching :goodvibes

Within DCA? We have only eaten at a couple places in DCA..nothing was particularly fantastic atmosphere wise

Within DTD? We haven't done it but really wanted to try Catal. Looks like pretty good food and fun.

Within Disney Hotels? N/A

PCH Grill in the PPH is nice. Are you traveling with children? They have a create your own pizza that my younger kids loved. My dad had salmon, I had steak and my mom had pasta and all were quite good.

For a light lunch, we love to snag a table in the bar area above Ariel's in DCA. It is a great view and they have a sort of pub menu. Not a huge selection, but nice sliders and other lite choices.

In DL (not counting Blue Bayou) we loved the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ for dinner

In DTD we Love Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, we've had dinner out on the balcony twice & it's awesome.

We haven't found a favorite in DCA just yet, we have tended to head back into DL for Dinner.

If this is for adults....Trader Sams at the Disneyland Hotel. Yes it is a bar, but they do serve food from the neighboring Tangaroa Terrace and you can't get any better atmosphere. The bartenders and the room ARE the show. It's hands down one of our MUST visits while we are there. Enjoy!:wizard:

I'll second the Trader Sams mention. We did this a few weeks ago and loved the atmosphere. It reminds us of the old Adventurer's Club from WDW's Pleasure Island, including the bar stools with a surprise. :rolleyes1
