Planning to go on the Disney Cruise next June and wanted to spend a couple days relaxing at a DVC resort in WDW. Just wondering if anyone has a favorite to relax at and call home base when doing things other than park hopping.

Wilderness Lodge is awesome just to hang out in. It's right on the lake so it's a great place to rent boats if you want and it's an easy boat ride over to Fort Wilderness to take a stroll through the petting zoo, or a carriage or hay ride in the evening, EWP every night on the beach...If you want Disney without the parks, VWL gets my vote!

You didn't put Saratoga Springs in your poll. Remember, if it stays on schedule, it should be open a month before your June travel dates.

I would stay there just to be able to check out the newest DVC resort. If you just want to hang out, SSR's proximity to DD might be a plus.

I didn't vote because SSR wasn't one of the choices.

.... but I went with VWL. IMO the entire resort is just breathtaking. There are many relaxing things to do, those that anniet mentioned are great. There is also the campfire & movie at FW. The lodge tour. Sitting by the various fireplaces and reading a good Disney park pamplet. Now I'm homesick. Thanks alot !!!

June = HOT. I would do VWL. Very cool atmosphere with the shade trees and nice cool, dark lobby.

I didn't consider adding SSR as an option since noone has stayed there yet. I am bending toward Wilderness Lodge because of the close access to MK for a single day, and all the other activities going on there for families. Has anyone ever gone to the Backyard Barbecue? Is that a worthwhile character meal to go to with a 2 year old?

Thanks for all the votes!

VWL is a fun place and I have done without the parks - however looking at the MK would make me want to go to the MK

Same with BCV looking at Epcot - oh yes - let's go

BWV same thing

OKW if I knew I was not going to any of the WDW parks - this would be the choice - you can't really see that much of any of the parks - so if you are like I am and don't have a lot of will-power - then OKW is wonderful unless you get on a bus you won't even see the parks.

plus DD is a walk/boat/bus away.

This is an easy one for me.....hands down, it's VWL!

The Bike & Boat plan is great....and DW and I even mentioned how nice of a vacation it would still be to go there without going to the parks.

You really can't see MK from there unless you go out on Bay Lake...then you can see Space Mountain and the castle.

The worst would be BWV or BCV....to be that close to Epcot and not go in.....that would be rough!

I also voted for VWL. I could make VWL a 'woodsy lodge getaway' all by itself. BCV and BWV would be okay if you plan to spend a lot of time on the Boardwalk or SAB.

Have fun!...
