Best Resort (on property or off) for marathon weekend?

Hi all! I haven't been here since our last trip in 2006. Wow, time flies. My boys are now in high school and college and I have no idea how that happened!

So I'm about to pull the plug, book the plane tickets, and register them for the half marathon in January.

Do people have opinions on the best resorts for boys that have been working their tails off in school, training for a half marathon, and will just want to relax in hot tubs and pools after the race? I'm not even sure we'll hit a theme park....

I'm looking at both the deluxes or nice off-property places. We found the moderates a bit too cramped for a family of four in 2005. We ended up moving into our friends' rental condo at one of the big time-share places and the kids spent hours in the pool, swimming up to the bar for virgin coladas and loving it. We're only there for three or four nights, so I'm not averse to spending a few bucks.

I'm considering the AKL, the Beach/Yacht Clubs for pools. What do people think?

If you want a nice place to relax with older children.. hot tubs, lots of room.. try Bonnet Creek... :thumbsup2 You can rent a one or 2 bedroom for the price of a small room at AKL or the YC & BC at Disney :thumbsup2

Your kids can have their own rooms with their own TV's in them to watch what they want, when they want. There is a stereo system & DVD player in the unit... The grounds are nice.. super nice pools.
