So - we'll be going to WDW in early March of 2011 to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Leaving the kids at home... wondering what might be the best resort for the two of us to stay at...

My first thought - Beach Club. we just stayed at BWV and loved the walk to EPCOT/hollywood.

But, on the other hand - AKL - without the kiddos around I don't think we'll mind bus rides as much and won't be needing to go back to nap in the afternoons... and I'd love to get a Savannah view...

But, on the other hand - AKL is so far away - and we're planning on trying some dining in the MK area (Ohana, Narccoossee's, Cali Gril...) and we always enjoy EPCOT - so maybe our home resort - BLT? Or Maybe the WLV - we ate at Whispering Canyon last trip and fell in love with the lobby there! I've got to imagine the rest is just as beautiful.

Any thoughts?

I'll book BLT at 11 months... but then... what to wish for, what to wish for????

what is your favorite theme park?

which this trip will you be spending the most time at?

Don't you just love the planning stages? We spend way too many hours just doing what ifs, how much to stay at, or where can we dine when stay at? The planning makes the time between trips go faster.

So if you are planning on dining at a Monorail resort, BLT would work really well. We stayed there 3/1 - 3/8 this year and it was a breeze going via the monorail to Poly and GF or ferrying over to WL for Artist Point. You can have drinks at TOTW and watch the fireworks. Or go there after dinner after Wishes and the crowds are gone and you have a nice, quiet drink.

Since it sounds like you want to try something different and you like the look of WL, why not try to get a VWL reservation at the 7 month mark? You still can ferry across to MK and take the monorail to the other resorts. If you have a car it's a quick drive to BLT/CR, Poly or GF.

If you have enuf points, how about Grand Floridian? Yes it's a pricey use of points, but it's something special and it IS your 10th anniversary. ps We celebrate our 10th this year too but except for a wkend in Newport without kids, will be taking them to BWV this summer and AKV at Christmas. Congratulations!

DH and I stayed at BLT, MK view and found it very romantic. It was great walking to MK and taking the monorail to Epcot.

Our big concern with AKV is the distance from all the other parks. Even without kids, we prefer to stay near the parks we want to go to. Planning BWV this summer, hoping for waitlist at BC.

I think either BLT (convenience of monorail dining and enjoying TOTW adults only style!) or Boardwalk (great restaurants and nightlife and easy access to epcot) would be my recommendations...

I am not a fan of WL - the atmosphere is nice, but I think that the boat travel is insanely slow/time consuming - maybe not that its truely slow by disney standards, but its just not as convenient as people seem to think. I'd rather visit there for an evening, stroll around, hang out in the lobby, enjoy dinner, and then go back home with an easier trip to the parks daily!

All that being said - as adults only, I think we would very much enjoy SSR and OKW too!! So, if you go the point saving route - I still think you will have a great time!!

We'd probably spend a lot of time at EPCOT...

I'm really leaning towards Beach Club. We just stayed at the BWV and are planning on staying at BLT next time we take the kiddos... we really do want to try something new..

We do love the feel of the Wilderness, though...

And we had a blast at DTD on our honeymoon - so maybe SSR?

Gosh - I do love the planning stage... thought it's driving my husband crazy. He gets home from work and I start reading off menu items and he's like, "Where's this at?" Uh, Disney World - and he just sighs...

THanks for the congrats! No way are we going to use points for Grand FLoridian! We just got our DVC and didn't buy that many points - 160. Plus, we want to save some of our points from 2011 to be able to take the grandparents in 2012! Maybe for our 50th???? :)

We'd probably spend a lot of time at EPCOT...

then go with BWV, BCV or BLT (monrail)

that say if you really want VWL - after all it is your anniversary - then go for it.

for Epcot it is bus transportation - or you could boat to CR and take it monrail to TTC then transfer to the Epcot monrail.

California Grill is an excellent restaurant. We ate there on our Honeymoon in '06. BCV is very romantic. You coule do a split stay... especially without kids, that makes it easier.

Figures you'd say this - I'm trying to pick two out of these three: Cali Grill, Narccoossee's, or O'Hana - I was leaning towards skipping the Cali Grill! Oh decisions!

We're only staying 4 nights - so a split stay... might just complicate things more! I figure buses, monorails, boats - all easier without the kids - as is just walking to EPCOT. Though, I'll be honest, I'm worried I'm going to regret not taking them! They always seem to be at "the perfect age"!

I'd skip Narccoossee's, we ate there in November and wasn't too impressed.

I wouldn't skip Cali Grill.

Hmmmm - and I know I just threw Artist Point into the mix - maybe save O'hana for when the kids are with us...... I feel like we need to try Cali Grill....

We ate at Cali Grille earlier this month. The food was excellent and the view of Wishes fabulous. Romantic -- NO. Kids running all over the place, it was noisy, crowded and very hectic. There wasn't even any room to sit and have a drink before dinner. But having said all of this we will dine there again just wouldn't do it to celebrate a special occasion.

Sorry - I'm confused. :confused3

Kids were running all over the place at Cali Grille? Or does NO. stand for Narcccccoooooossssseeeee's?? ;)

My Dh husband and I go by ourselves all the time, we always stay at BCV. We love Epcot and HS. The BC is very romantic and we enjoy being in close range of the BW, if we want to we can use the transportation to the other TS places. You also have the several fireworks views. Hope you have a great trip. Jenn V.

I don't think Cali Grill is trying to be romantic imho, even if there were no kids there. The whole design with the open kitchen doesn't lend itself to that atmosphere.

Romantic- I'd do V&A .

Yes, and you will find kids running all over at the Flying Fish, Narcoossee's etc.
