Best Resort If Running Jan 06 Marathon?

You give me way too much credit
I am a :cheer2: on the sidelines.
I arrived at the MK at 4:45 am (they didn't let us in till 5:45 am) so I could sit on Main Street and cheer all on.

My DS (15) ran the Half this year for the first time. (ran his first half 6 weeks prior) My DD (11) ran the 5k. I don't think I could run even a 1k, but maybe I should think about working towards that....the 1k, not the Marathon. So you see my admiration is huge :D

Come read the thread--you could be pleasantly surprised at what those who couldn't do before can now do :).

Showing alittle ignorance  here..................what is the WISH board and is it here on the Dis Board ?

Two notes,

Next years marathons will be split. The half will be run on Saturday with the full being run on Sunday.

There will also be some changes to the routes, more than what we saw this year.

Here is a description of the Half Marathon that I posted on the WISH boards (on the Dis under the Just for Fun section). You do not run through EPCOT until the last mile of the race--and the race starts 1 mile away from where it started this year. You are on the road that is directly in front of the parking lot.

On the old Course--you start at what was mile marker 1 . You head straight for the overpass of World Drive to the cloverleaf (mm 1), you round the "exit" and head on World Drive to the autoplaza veering left past the Auto Care Center (mm 2 & 3) through the parking lot as before to mm 4 then onward to Contemporary Hill. When you past the Contemporary, that is mm 5 and you go into MK. As you exit, that is mm6 and past the Grand Floridian is mm7. MM8 is just before the parking lot and MM9 is just past it--then you back track the way you came before to the Overpass of World Drive (mm9) and as you get on that cloverleaf exit that is mm10. You round that and head straight to EPCOT. Mile 12 is as you get to the Entrance...you enter EPCOT and go around Spaceship Earth...up to the lake and turn around and go to the otherside of Space Ship Earth--out an exit, veering to the right for your BIG FINISH. You do not go through World Showcase at all .

I know that exit isn't really a Cloverleaf exit--but it looks ike 1 leaf (mile 6 on the marathon course if you look at the 2005 map).

The course is the same except for the start and the finish.

Hope this helps with anybody's booking decision.
