Best resort for direct small contract add on?

So I think we've decided to add on a small (50? maybe 75?) point contract direct. This is because I don't see any resale packages I love, and I'd like to use the points in June if possible and we'd have them in our account much faster this way. We currently own resale SSR, and we are grandfathered into a blue card (if that changes anyone's opinions). What we can't decide is where to purchase for the add on. Getting more points at SSR for the same use year would probably be easiest, but VGF is selling for only $12 more per point. BUT the VGF point chart is such that a small package is worth a lot less there. AKV is also only $5 more per point than SSR and would get us a few more years and a small contract is more usable there. Thoughts?

If you are an AKV fan, that might be a nice option as oft gives you the chance for value and CL. But, we love VGF and it’s our 2nd favorite to RIV. The easy access to MK would get my vote

Based on the choices you listed, I would go with AKV. We just did this, and added 25, to round-up our total AKV to enough to get us 2 weeks annually. Timing it so that you get the "double points", and using free 6-Month financing with a Disney Visa is also a perk!

I just read this morning that DVC has an incentive going at the Animal Kingdom. Personally, I suggest looking into Bay Lake.

For such a small points contract to be useful, it would need to be the older legacy resorts with a lower points chart requirement. As you said, that makes SSR and AKV more the ideal candidate, if you just going with logic / price / value. But if you are going to buy direct anyways, and you love VGF, I would just get VGF. If your heart is not set on VGF, I would go with AKV, but that's just me.

Great3

If you’re paying the direct price premium, I would definitely get GFV for the the longer contract expiration. Those points are worth way more in the long term because of that and will hold resale value longer.

I think adding on to SSR would be good, but if you want the 11 month booking at a different resort I would add on there.
It depends on the time of year you want to travel. Our home resort studios are usually gone right at 11 months during the popular times but we have 3 home resorts some it gives us nice options. I usually book a week or so in a studio at 11 months and modify to a 1br using one of our other resorts at 7 months.

Thanks all! We ended up just doing SSR. I still think maybe we should've done AKV but it was a little more expensive per point and the maintenance fees are higher and ultimately I needed the points ASAP to make a ressie and was taking too long to make a decision. We travel all different times of the year and don't usually have one specific resort we feel like we need to stay at, so that definitely made it harder!

I think you made the right choice. Points charts can and do change. I recall getting 2BR rooms at OKW and AK for under 200 points in September for a week..... All the studio points dropped summer months recently GF was a big change.
It is just easier to have all your points together and always very easy to sell a small contact no matter where if you can use it anymore.
