i am planning my friend's bachelorette party and she decided she would like to go to epcot to "drink around the world" and then to dowtown disney to the piano bar. i am of course thrilled since i'm an ap holder:) anyway, i need help picking a resort for about 8 women (ages 27-30). clearly the focus of the trip will be the bride-to-be and the consumption of alcohol (within limits since wdw is a family place...). i'm think POFQ. what do you guys think? is there a direct boat from POFQ to DD? if so, how late does it run???

If you are thinking of the dueling piano bar, that is actually on the Boardwalk. In that case I would suggest BWI, YC or BC. These resorts are all within walking distance to Epcot and the Boardwalk. If the one you are thinking of is actually in DTD, then yes you can take the boat from POFQ or POR to DTD. You might also want to consider renting a villa at SS for boat access to DTD so you could all be in one room.

There really isn't a "party" hotel. I don't think one is better for your purposes than another. The piano bar, JellyRolls (like the other poster said), is over on the Boardwalk, so you might want to stay there. I dunno.

If you can swing a cab ride over to Universal, Citywalk is a lot of fun and well suited to the "party" thing. :)

well i'm glad i asked you guys because i didn't know the piano bar isn't in dtd. thanks for your suggestions:) rustyscupper, as of right now, we don't need a chaperone, but thanks for the offer!

SSR - get at least a two bedroom or a two bedroom plus a one bedroom or studio. You are right near DTD (within walkin distance). Easy to get over to the other areas by bus.

I would definitely look into one of the epcot resorts if you can fit it in the budget. if you guys don't mind doubling up or more, it might not be too costly, and would be a nice walk thru the international gateway over to jellyrolls on the boardwalk.

Depending on finances, I'd suggest a 2BR or Grand Villa at BWV. It is just a short walk to Epcot and an even shorter walk to Jellyrolls. This way there are no worries about driving, buses or anything. All 8 can fit into the 2BR but you might want the Grand Villa for extra space. Now neither unit will be cheap, but they will be well worth the price.

Ditto on the BWV idea. If indeed a 'drinking tour' is the plan at Epcot, then it's a short stagger back to Jellyrolls, or up to the room for some time in between. No transpo worries or delays.

You'd need a member to get that GV at 11 months out. There are only 6 or 7 of them at BWV.

Not necessarily. They sometimes appear for regular reservations. Not as frequently as the GV at OKW or SSR but they can be booked through CRO on occasion.

Please let us know what you decide....not that I would show up or anything. ;)

Or you could do the Swan or Dolphin, not that I wouldn't want to move you out of a Disney hotel, but those heavenly beds might feel good after your drinks around the world! In a villa there would be some people sleeping on a pull-out sofa bed, sometimes not the most comfortable thing in the world, IMO. :)

i'm torn! i would LOVE to stay at BW--it looks beautiful and looks like the perfect location, but also looks super expensive. anybody have any idea how much it would cost me to buy/rent points from someone for saturday feb 3rd and possibly fri. feb 2nd? keep in mind we need something big enough for 8 girls. also, maybe we should just split up because with only 1 bathroom, it could take all nightfor everyone to shower/get ready! what are your thoughts on swan/dolphin? what is the transportation situation to epcot and BW area for jellyrolls from swan/dolphin? i don't know why i'm reluctant to stay at swan or dolphin--maybe because it's not disney-owned??? anybody stay at either lately?

Sounds like a fun trip you are planning. I just checked out the DVC points calendar on these boards and it looks like a two bedroom for a Saturday night would cost 72 points and for the grand villa would be 118 points. The points were the same for a Friday night. Friday and Saturday night stays require more points than Sun-Thurs (any chance she'd like to change the night?).

The two bedroom would have two full bathrooms and a half-bath so better than just one. It is designed to sleep 8 (including sleeping on a sofa bed). The Grand Villa would have an additional bed and bathroom.

Points tend to rent for an average of $10 per (sometimes slightly more or less). So for the eight of you to stay in the two bedroom it would be $720 total or if you are splitting it, about $100 each (assuming bride wouldn't pay). You can double that if you add on Friday night.

It will also give you access to your own full kitchen: blenders, ice,etc for taking the party back home. There is also a whirpool tub that you could all fight over. If it's in your budget, would be ideal.

what would be the advantages and disadvantages to renting points vs. booking room at BWI through disney? sorry for all the questions...
i'm clueless :confused3

When you rent a DVC member's reservation, you are renting from an individual and not from Disney. Disney will not get involved with the reservation in any way if you have problems. The member sets the requirements for payment. They also fully control the reservation until you check into the resort. They should be able to provide you a confirmation of the reservation. They will have to make all requests to Member Services. You will be able to call the resort directly a few days before you check in to see if the reservation is there and in your name.

If you want two nights (Fri and Sat) the reservation will require 144 points for the two nights in the two bedroom villa. You are too late at this point to get a GV since members can make their reservation 11 months out and DVC members without points at that resort can make a reservation at 7 months out.

A two bedroom at the BWV will have one king sized bed, one queen sized bed, one queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room and a double sized sleeper sofa in the second bedroom with the queen sized bed. A studio would give you one more queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa. A studio would run 26 points a night. The extra studio may be located close or far from the two bedroom. It might be on another floor. It will not connect.

Members usually charge anywhere from $10-15 per point for a reservation.
