I just can't decide!!! My in-laws will be going with us (70-ish) and mentioned the Poly. Not sure if they know how much it costs yet. I like the idea of the Poly because of the ease of transportation with a 4 year old and 7 year old AND my in-laws. But I just love the pool area at the Yacht and Beach clubs...think the kids would have a blast. But then I wonder, will we really be spending that much time at the resort??? Would we be better off just saving money and staying at an AS? (We are hoping to go for a week) Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

We did Poly last year w/3 & 6 and Grandparents! Loved it, had adjoining rooms...worked out excellent when Grandparents watched kids a night while we snuck out! Location was key, 3 yr old was still napping so we came back from the parks in afternoon and 6 yr old and I took dip in pool while mom and 3yr old napped. Next year we're going to try Beach Club just because of pool!

Are you 4 adults and 2 kids, or 3 adults and 2 kids? If you have only 3 adults, you can all stay in 1 room at a delux resort such as the Poly, but if you're 6 people, you will need 2 rooms or a Jr suite no matter where you stay. I think if you can fit into 1 room at a delux you can easily justify the higher cost for the convenience and location (it will still cost more for 1 room in a delux than 2 rooms at All Stars).

I have never stayed in the Epcot area, but good friends of mine (DH is an exec at Disney) LOVE the YC/BC most of all the resorts. I love the Poly for its location, theming and restaurants. With children your kids' ages, you'll probably focus most time at MK. Poly gives you easy access to both monorails...and the pool there doesn't stink (acknowledge it's no SAB).

Have you looked at WL? It's a wonderful resort for families. Especially if you're spending most of your time at MK. It's the smallest of the deluxes and one of the least expensive.

Stop over to the WL faq part 4 post. There is lots of great info, pictures and maps on the first couple of pages.

Go Poly!My parents took my son to WDW in June and they LOVED the Poly for ease of transportation, theming, food, and the room size. Now, the Poly was a strech for them but they came back saying it was worth every penny. We are currently planning a family reunion at the Poly for Aug. 05.

deana s:

I second the Polynesian if you think that you will be spending most of your time at MK; the ease with monorail accessibility can not be underestimated, especially after a long day with tired kids (and tired adults, too!). The theming is wonderful and the new volcano pool has gotten rave reviews. Main downside is higher cost........

If you feel you will be out touring/not at the resort much, and don't mind alittle extra travel time, the moderates still have great theming and easily accessible buildings for a reasonable price. We have stayed at both POR and POFQ (tho not since the recent renovations) and found them very child friendly.

No matter which you choose, I am sure you will have a terrific time with your family!

Thanks for your input. By the way, it will be 4 adults, 2 kids...so we are looking for 2 rooms, preferably adjoining. Any other opinions?

the polyn has connecting rooms...

On our first time (not mind - the families) - I had to pay for everything - the Polyn was out of the question - so we went with the POR (then called Dixie Landing) - lots to do - the kids (3 and 5 at the time) loved it - the adults also enjoyed the setting - very lovely. Tranportation is only by bus - but the kids loved being on a bus. there is a boat to DD - that is also fun to ride. there were 6 of us - when I check in (before my brother's family) arrived - I was told there were connecting rooms (for a cheaper price) - I almost got them - but mother had a fit - so we stayed with rooms next to each other - but not connecting.....

I should not have gone with her on that - I was paying for everything - but she can be a real pain when she doesn't get her way.

I would also say the poly if your in laws plan on spending a lot of time at the resort or will be watching your children. You should look into one member of your party getting an annual pass so you could get a good room discount or consider going during value season when the rooms are cheaper. I would say the only down thing of the poly would be if your in laws have any mobility issues because you have to do alot of outside walking to get to places. Not fun if it is raining alot also. But there are so many options for them there: beach, looking at the ducks, ohanas, luau, kona cafe, character breakfast for the family etc. Fun, Fun, Fun and worth every penny. Quiet pool, volcano pool for the kids, kids activities at the neverland club. etc. Oh I could go on and on, hearing the luau music, watching the water parade and wishes from the beach at night. Good luck deciding. But I guess if money is a big issue then look at the moderates and I guess that would depend on your tastes too, I would go with the recently remodeled moderate, everything will be fresh and updated etc.

I say you should go Boardwalk or Yacht Club! Both have great theme pools for the kids, both are right at the Boardwalk where the kids can have fun, Grandparents can remember when and Mom and Dad could run off to Jellyrolls after the kids are in bed! They are walking distance to Epcot (where you can catch the monorail), there are water taxis to Epcot and MGM and buses to everywhere else. Another plus for everyone is Beaches and cream soda fountain that I am sure everyone would love (ask for the kitchen sink)! There are several sites that give inforamtion on the Yacht Club. Good Luck!

Any input on the All stars? I hear they are quite large...lots of walking. And obviously there is less to do since it is a value resort. Would this be less convenient with grandparents involved?

Hello.
Last year, like you, we took a family trip. It was me, DH, 4 yr old DD, my brother and my parents. We decided to rent points and stayed in a 2 bdrm villa at the Beach Club. My parents had a room, we slept in the other room with our DD and my brother slept on the pullout couch. There was plenty of room for all of us. Renting points is much cheaper than reserving directly w/ Disney and I used the vacation club forum on this website. We had a living room, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. The Boardwalk was nearby for my parents to do their own thing and the pool is a mini water park! We loved it! My parents and my brother both ended buying into the vacation club by the end of the trip. If you want to be closer to the MK maybe you could stay in a villa at the Wilderness Lodge. I hope this helps.

Pam
