Best resort for 4 adults, 1 room?

Hi everyone,

We are planning a trip with another couple and their 2 year old daughter in August. Our friend is in the military, however with SoG under renovations and CR north wing booked for our dates, he was only offered a discounted room at a hotel in Downtown Disney. We would rather not stay there.

We would prefer not to get 2 rooms and are aware we will need to pay $10-$25 per adults 3 and 4 per night. (They really want to stay at a Deluxe so we thought we would share a room - we know it will be a little cramped!!)

If we rent DVC points for a studio, would we be able to put all 4 adults on the reservation without extra charges? And if we rented points for BCV, would all 4 adults have room keys so we could use SAB?

I thought there are resorts that 4 adults are allowed to stay in without extra charges or maybe Deluxe rooms that would allow it?

We are not trying to break any rules, just seeing what our options are. We may just stay at the Poly with the new military rate that came out and add 2 adults to the reservation.

Any comments and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Wendy

The BCV studios all have 1 queen bed plus a double sofa bed. I think the sofa bed would be uncomfortable for 2 adults, even if the room itself was fine.

One thing I would look for, having travelling to WDW twice this year with a 2 year old, is a room with a balcony or patio. Just someplace where the adults can go while the kid sleeps. GF, contemp tower room, 1st floor contemp wing room, most of the Poly, AKL or WL. BWI or YC (NOT BC).

A WL deluxe room sleeps 6, but I don't know if they charge for more than 2 adults.

Can you get a good rate at the swan or dolphin? Great location, really nice pool.

It's a tough decision!

Thanks Gillian,

I agree about having a balcony, great place for us adults while the baby is sleeping - plus we love sitting outside anyway!

Personally, we did not enjoy the Swan and Dolphin as much as the Disney owned Deluxe resorts although we love the Epcot area.

We are trying to keep cost down while staying at a Deluxe. Our friend can get a military rate of $200 with tax for Polynesian garden view, though we would have to add on $50 for the 2 adults. We would prefer 1 room at a Deluxe instead of 2 at a moderate.

Decisions, decisions. They live all the way in Seattle and we just want to share our love of Disney with them!

Keep the ideas coming! Thanks!

You could rent DVC points for a 2 bdr at OKW for around $1500, if you stay Sun-Thu. It's a bit more; but if you can swing it, the extra room would be nice!:D

None of the DVC properties charge extra for the 3rd or 4th adult, so that would be a $50 savings. However, one couple would be on the pull out couch and the room could get very cozy with a 2 year old in a pack n play or aero bed. OKW studios have 2 queen beds, but that's not going to get you into Stormalong Bay.

2 standard rooms at AKL? I'm not sure why you want to stay in 1 room (I'd do anything to NOT share a room with someone else's 2 year old, LOL!). It's not a monorail resort, and it's not in the epcot area, but it is beautiful & the pool is nice. The bus service is excellent. All the rooms have a balcony.

Have fun figuring it all out! Planning is almost as fun as being there. :)

agree, and I would want an extra bath too.

Thanks everyone for all the advice!

While I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the AKL, I'm not sure it would be our best best - our friends are from Seattle and really want to stay somewhere with a "beach" feeling or "tropical" feeling! We arrive Wednesday morning and leave Sunday and we have decided to stay Friday and Saturday nights at the Poly. I think we will have enough space in that room, their daughter will probably sleep on the "daybed". I am not looking forward to sharing 1 bathroom but we will manage! We may send the guys to "shower" in the pool! Just kidding!

So now it just leaves Wednesday and Thursday nights. I will check prices on AKL standard rooms and I have emailed a fellow DISer who I rented DVC points from last year to see what it would cost for BCV or Villas at WL. I will also check the deluxe room at WL.

I sure do wish we could get the SoG rate at the Contemporary - but too late in the planning!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions esp. the advice about sharing a room with a 2 year old! They spent a week with us last month but then again we weren't in the same room! Our friends think it would be good "experience" since we will be having children of our own in the next few years! I don't know though - it will be very interesting!

Thanks again!
