Hi,

Well my head is spinning from all my research. Anybody offer any advice please

Our priorities are

1. Easy/quick access to MK though I think the only monorail resort we can afford is Contemp

2. Plenty to do for children - we plan to spend half day in park and then return to resort. Hoped to have something a bit more than pool to occupy children but we want to be with them rather than put them in childrens club

My shortlist so far
CR - for monorail
AKL - theming and animals look spectacular and good price for deluxe
WL - short boat/bus ride to MK and lots of people rate highly
Studio at OKW - just like the look of this resort and studio has 2 queens rather than sofabed so no bed making each day (lazy I know)

But I'm probably way off the mark!

Thanks
Helen

Have you thought about the cabins at Fort Wilderness? They are large, there is a LOT for the kids to do there, plenty of space to run and play and get out all of that kid energy and fairly convenient to MK.

Other than that I would go for Wilderness Lodge. Straight to MK via boat, beautiful and not as hectic as the Contemporary. I love the Contemporary it just always seems so crazy there to me.

I would vote for WL. It's the same price as AKL and has tons for kids to do. Just ask at the desk when you check in. We will be there in 51 days (but who's counting?) with a 5 yo and an almost 3 yo and we are looking forward to the pool, renting water mice (or whatever they are called now), playing on the beach, renting surrey bikes, taking the boats to wherever they go, searching for hidden mickeys, trying out the kid's club as a family (in the aftenoon when the little ones can go with a parent), and walking the paths around the resort. Hopefully, we'll get to at least half of our list in the 8 days we are there.

Good luck deciding and have a great trip!

PS - when are you going? WL is scheduled for rehab starting in Jan. If you aren't going until later next year, you could reap the benefits of the rehab.

CR would get my vote for 2 reasons:
a. monorail and or walk to from MK
b. price of a garden wing

also there are good dining options there like CM and hop the monorail to the Poly or GF for easy dining options!!

they do not have any kids clubs or activities that I know of...but ease and convienience are a must with young kids IMO :sunny:

PLUS room size is larger than AKL OR WL

The only place we have stayed is the Contemporary and my girls are 4 and 6. We love it and that's where they asked to go again this year. We like it because the monorail comes right through and also the excitement of Chef Mickey's. And it's on the monorail so you can get to MK quickly. We also found the bus transportation to the other parks efficient as well.

We actually downgraded from the Poly to stay there because that's where everyone wants to stay. Also, if you are in a tower room and it rains, you don't get wet exploring the hotel. We were there last year for Hurricaine Jeane and it was really nice to be able to get out and interact with the characters they brought in for the storm.

Hope this helps!!

DS4 and my DH both have AKL has their favorite resort. There is plenty to do and since the buses are all direct, nothing shared, it is very short rides and quite efficient.

However, I think I would recommend to you WL. It's a short ride via boat to MK. A very short ride via boat to Ft. Wilderness and all it has to offer. A ton of stuff to do at WL. Short boat ride to CR gives you plenty of dining choices all around the monorail resorts and access to their activities. If you go there, I'd be sure to book a woods view, request the 5th floor over the otter pond (North annex)--you should be able to see the MK castle, fireworks and most likely the parade on bay lake. All major treats within themselves.

Hi,

Thanks for all the advice - think I've narrowed it down to AKL or WL. Most people seem to think that both are great so hopefully I can't go wrong

That was what we had narrowed it down and chose Wl because of the transportaion issues. We LOVE WL.It has become our favorite of all resorts. It is so nice to catch a boat to MK or to FW, or to the CT to make the monorail route. FW is a great place to hang out but we have no desire to stay in the cabins because of in the internal and external bus routes but my sister's family loves them and always stays there. WL often has children's activities in the Pm including crafts for parents and children together in the kids club. The have a cool pool slide, poolside games, and a playground. WE love to take the boat over to FW to eat at the trails end buffet. WCC is a fun abet, LOUD resturant. AP is a nice quite place that is fine to take the kids. Good luck deciding!
