I'm going to be going to WDW in June with my mom, sister, and my two boys - there will be five of us. My mom has said that she'd like to rent an ECV - she will probably be able to walk for part of the trip, but she gets tired and has pain in her ankle and knees after about 2 or 3 hours at the mall.

I'm thinking of renting a car and then renting a scooter from someone other than Disney. What type of car should I look at getting and/or what type of scooter will be easy to transport? We'll also have two umbrella strollers. So, obviously something big.

I guess it comes down to SUV or mini-van.

Oh - and does anyone know if we can get a rental car delivered to our resort (AKL) and still use Magical Express from the airport. I love Magical Express.

I would just suggest a full-size four-door sedan. Just about any rental ECV is designed to be broken down to be put in a car trunk. When you set up the rental, just let them know you will be using a car and need one that cn break down.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #5 explains loading and unloading an ECV into a car.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

I know for a fact that a Pride Go-go Elite Traveler Plus 3 wheel scooter will fit fine in the trunk of a Ford Fusion or larger vehicle. There would even be room for the strollers on top of the scooter.

You can use the ME bus and still get a car, but you need to call and arrange pick up with the rental car service and they will pick you up from your resort and take you to get your car. We have rented twice from the car care center on Disney property and this is what we did. We rode the bus to the resort, then called the car care center and asked to be picked up. They sent a driver over and picked us up and took us back to the car care center. We then got our car and went on our merry way. On retruning the car they gave us a ride back to the resort or whereever on property we wanted to go. Very painless.

Great - thanks! About how long did it take to go get the car??

We called and I would say within the hour we had our car and were on our way.
