Hi All :)

Title says it all, I'm off to DLP in May and was wondering where are some of the best places to get the euro from.

I take it I will get a better deal online than the high street?

Any help will be appreciated :thumbsup2

Hi,

I'm going in May too, and hoping the euro will climb a bit against the pound between now and then. I'll be getting my euros at M&S - they are usually quite competitive.

Travelex may be worth checking out too.

Honestly your best bet is to get a nationwide bs account with a debit card, you can then withdraw abroad without any charges or loading fees, you will get the visa rate for that day thats always going to be above tourist rates

I usually get mine from m&s as I find they have a fairly good rate. But if it doesnt climb much by the time I go in March may get them online.

I wouldnt want to open a bank account just to get a slightly better foriegn exchange rate.

Dont think I would want to open a bank account and go through the hassle of it, just to save what would probably amount to a few pound.

Just wanna know what everyone thinks would be the best rate and where they normally get theirs

I usually find M&S has the best rates apart from Travelex but if you use the latter make sure you book them in advance, the rates on demand are appalling. :)

I have had a Nationwide account and credit card for years and never really used the debit card abroad.
I just checked out the rate and it is certainly better than the High St rates! I will definitely be doing this for my DLRP trip in April.
Thanks for the info Stubbarama :thumbsup2 .

Hi,

See also this thread - Euro Rate on the Up! Confirms the Nationwide! Won't use anything else for obtaining cash abroad and where permitted everything goes on the cc.

Hi everyone, long-time lurker, first-time poster here!

I always use the MoneySavingExpert Travel Money Maximiser (travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com) to find the best rates on currency.

The same website has a useful guide to Cheap Travel Money that explains when it's best to use a card abroad or when it's best to use cash.

Officially less than one month to go before my 5th March trip :cheer2:
