Best Rates at Dolphin or Swan

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the "low" rates I've been hearing about at the Dolphin or Swan. I checked the Entertainment Book rates which are 50% off rack rates, but they are still over $200 a night (discounted). I thought someone posted rates around $100 for these hotels. I am quite flexible on travel dates. Would love to go either this spring or fall.

Please help.

Having AAA will save you some money, but it's usually around the same as the entertainment rate. I got a AAA rate of $189.50 per night for April 20-23, 2005 at the Dolphin.

Also, you can join Starwood Preferred Guest and receive promotional rates and earn points since the Dolphin and Swan are owned by Sheraton/Westin.

Keep reading the boards, visit mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com often to see if any codes have been posted there.

AP rates are the best, along with government/millitary/nurse/teacher rates. These discounts generally MUST be booked directly with the hotels; you will not find them on Expedia or Orbitz or Travelocity, or even on the Starwood hotels booking site or the Starwood 800-number.

Check this page on MouseSavers for more info:

I will be staying at the Swan the end of August-the beginning of September. For the August nights I got the AAA rate of $169.50/night. Starting September 1st the nurse's discount was available for $149/night. I booked directly with the hotel.

Our last stay at the Dolphin was $139/night, INCLUDING taxes and resort fee, which is a great deal. We booked through Travelocity. I'm an RN and the rate through Travelocity was better than the nurse/teacher rate (which does not include taxes or resort fees).

We are going again in 10 days and again booked through Travelocity, although this time we are paying $496.44 for 3 nights including taxes and fees--not as great a deal as last time. But we could only have gotten the nurse/teacher rate for 2 of the 3 nights, so it still worked out better to book through Travelocity.

Be sure to check all the major sites (Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotelkingdom, etc.) as well as Dreams Unlimited (on the home page of the DISboards), Mousesavers.com, and the Starwood site (corporate owners of the Dolphin).

I, too, saw the $100/night rates mentioned on the boards about a month ago--they were for a very limited time frame. If you are flexible on dates, keep checking all the sites, and be sure to post on some of the Dolphin/Swan threads that you are looking for low rates.

I got one of those rates last summer. Keep an eye here and on the Budget board for deals on Hotwire. Last winter they offered them for most of June and July.
