I use one of the various travel insurance comparison sites. You'll put in the parameters of what you want covered and they will show you a variety of companies that have plans that offer that coverage, with their prices. Then I usually compare the 5 or 6 lowest price ones and select one. Not always the lowest price one.
I agree, look at some of the comparison sites. Some policies include kids for free on some policies, etc, so the best deal is different for everyone. I've had good experience with Travel Select, but they're not always the cheapest.
Definitely, prices and coverage vary. Make sure you get the coverage you want/need.
I'll post here because I actually filed a claim on my trip insurance (not for a cruise, but for a different vacation) and Allianz was very good about paying our claim. Two years ago, we were late by two days to our week-long house rental due to a hospitalization in our group. They asked for some proof confirming the medical incident (they gave us several choices of how to confirm it) and they asked for a letter from the owner of the cottage verifying that we were indeed two days late in arriving. Once they had these, they paid us 2/7 of the cost of the rental. So it was very worth it to us, and when we booked our cruise, we used them again with confidence.
