Best price for Ipad 2 Christmas Week?

Hi All
My early 20's nephew just found out yesterday that he will come into a small amount of money that will allow him to purchase an Ipad 2. He called me last night to see if I knew where he might get the best deal this week.

I know some places like Target and Meijers were offering gift card promotions with Ipad purchases on Black Friday. Is anyone offering a special deal this week or the week between Christmas and New Years?

Microcenter has been knocking $50 off the price, thats the only deal I've seen. I haven't see any gift card deals with the purchase of an IPad, only Ipods.

Apple has the refurbished ones on their website for a decent deal. I got one and it looks brand new. I got the wifi and 3g 16gb for $579 plus tax ($50 off)

Also I recemend searching for ipad on slickdeals. They sometimes post good deals on ipads or good ways to get one with extra gift cards. He might also want to wait for the ipad3 to come out (but I have no idea when that will be or what the difference are in features). We have an ipad1 and love it.

Apple is fairly strict about allowing retailers to undercut them on price. You pretty much don't find lower prices anywhere. What you will find is that retailers will often have Apple products and offer incentives like gift cards when you buy. Older products are often sold as well by alternative sites. If you see a really good price on an apple product then it's either older model, refurb or a scam.

Thanks all. I also suggested to him that he might want to wait for the iPad 3. He was concerned that the cost would also be higher.

I guess it doesn't help you now, but Target had a $40 giftcard offer that ended Saturday. We went friday night when they also had the $10 giftcard with a $75 purchase and I had a get $15 gift card with a purchase of $150 or more coupon. So I ended up with $65 worth of giftcards on my purchase. I also bought a cover and a couple other things in a separate order and got another $10 gift card for that order.
