Looking for the best price and did not see any BF deals like I was hoping for. Also what's the difference between the models?
Thanks

I saw the older black model on clearance at my Target yesterday for $78. It was originally $150.

Best Buy has one tomorrow for $99. Flip Video 60 minute model F360B. It has built in 2GB of flash memory.

I was just doing a search this morning for a Flip and the best price I found was for the Ultra HD black Flip on Amazon for $159.00 with 8gb of memory. As a teacher I can register on the Flip website and get 2 of the Flip Ultras (not HD and with only 4gb of memory) for $150.00, but don't think I'll go for the older model.

Then there's the Flip HD Mino which just came out. It's sleeker and looks easier to fit in a pocket when taking the camera places. I found this one at Target.com for $199.

I'm leaning towards the Flip HD Ultra for the $159 price, but I'm really not sure. This is for a 10 year old so does he really need the most expensive model? Then again, the smaller Mino would fit in pocket nicely. Either way, I'd only consider getting an HD model at this point for better video quality.

I'd love to hear feedback from anyone that has an Mino HD or has both the Ultra HD and Mino HD models.

Sam's had the Mino for $119.00, originally DD wanted the Kodak. So is there anyway to save the videos except for Facebook? We don't do Facebook so maybe this wouldn't be a good thing.

The mino at Sam's for that price only has 2gb of memory. DH researched the Flip and being the tech guru he is, his research indicated that the Kodak Zi8 was a better camera.

The kids around here all have Flips though, so I'm not sure what to do. However, when everyone else was getting iPods, we bought the kids Zunes which our kids loved and said they were better than their friends' iPods. So, maybe I should listen to DH. Not sure what to do.:confused3

Here's a comparison chart of the Kodak, Flip Ultra HD and FlipMino HD:

Thank your DH for me!!! It does sound like the Kodak is the better choice, now to find out if that one comes in colors.

The Kodak comes in black, red and aqua I believe, but the only stores I've ever seen them in had black only.

Amazon has all three colors for $159 plus free shipping.

That is an excellent deal!!! Target only has black at the store for $189.99. I had bought one on a whim, but couldn't justify it, so I took it back. Had they had the aqua I might have had a harder time taking it back ;).

Thanks for this thread...we were getting DD a flip for Christmas, saw them on Walmart.com for around 125 but of course didn't know enough to check models etc...I think we'll get the Kodak instead, through amazon. ;)

With the Kodak make sure to buy a HD memory card. You can get a card with 4 times more storage than the Flip stores in its camera. Memory cards are dirt cheap these days and will be especially cheap on BF.

The Amazon price of the Kodak Zi8 went up by $2 compared to what it was earlier today.

ETA: Newegg.com has the red Kodak Zi8 for $149.99 plus $2 shipping. The color looked more like a burnt red and was called "red" on newegg, but when I checked the Kodak site the only red is a raspberry color which looks more hot pinkish/purple -- NOT for a boy. Good thing I checked, because I had my order all filled out and was ready to hit the "submit" button.

I was at Best Buy today to pick up a sd card and found an opened box Flip 4gb white model that was originally $150 on sale for $89. It didn't come with the book, software or case. NBD - I wouldn't have used that stuff anyway. Tested it out - works great! Taking it to wdw next week instead of the bulky camcorder.

DH and I just bought the Kodak Zi8 last week. We got the aqua color for $149.99 at Amazon. The raspberry color was a little cheaper. Black was the most expensive. I haven't had a ton of time to do much with it, but we plan on using it on our upcoming trip to Disney. I would be happy to answer any questions as best as I can, if anyone has any.

If you find the model at Walmart at a cheaper price you can price somewhere else you can price match. Sometimes if it is at a really good price at another store, I just go to Walmart and match because it is at regular price and not a hot item there so not fight to get it.

note to the poster who wanted to know if there is a way/reason to save flip videos to somewhere other than facebook...yes! Flips come with their own software, and you save to your computer. We love it and it is great. You can send through email to gmom and gpop, and it is very easy. we have HD and it is very clear and a nice picture.

Thanks for the info on the Kodak. I am more confused now though. This will be for a 15 and 11 yr old to share, mostly for You Tube and goofing around. Best Buy has the 60 min 2GB fpr 99.99 this week and I think Staples has one on BF and I have 25.00 off 100. Trying to do this on budget but want a decent product.

HH Gregg has the Flip with 100 min and a
2" screen for $129.99. I am leaning toward the Kodak for DD, does it have the ability to download to the computer as well?
