We are driving cross country on a retirement trip. Leaving NJ late Aug. '09 driving to Portland and then down the Pacific Coast to So. Cal. We would like to spend two days in DL. Can't book a package because we don't know the exact date we will get there. But, I would like to purchase two 2-day tickets in advance. Where can I get the best price?

Disney.com does have as well as AAA offices special promotions that take place throughout the year, AAA offices, sell the disney tickets at the same price, however, free parking is included with the 2 day p/h tickets, that is the case for this year, and I do not doubt that will be available as well next year, hopefully it will be.
Late August, that is still quite far away, no telling for certain whether or not ticket prices will go up by or before then. I would buy the tickets ahead of time, that way, if the price goes up,then it will not matter.

Here is Disneys 2009 price list for tickets:

Sorry, just want to clarify the point regarding free parking being included in that to which is with AAA Disney tickets, not Disney.com, and also it is included with the 3 day p/h tickets, and most likely with 4 day or more as well, again with AAA.

This is the correct link

I have read good post regarding this website as well, personally when I was looking into my ticket needs, this site was not offering anything better from DL.com nor Disney tickets via AAA.

You should seriously consider a 3 day park hopper. You'll receive one (or two) Magical Mornings with a 3 day....& the extra morning (or evening) of touring is worth it.

Plus it's only a few dollars more than a 2 day.

The 2009 prices at getawayvacation.com are $143 for 2 day and $179 for 3 days. That's a $72 difference for two tickets. Is it really worth it?

pretty much all the hotels sell 2 day parkhopper tickets for $143-$144...if your going to only go with a 2 day I would just buy them once you get to your hotel

- with Getawaytoday you get TWO MM for a 3 day ticket. Available on Sun/Tue/Thur/Sat. (none for a 2 day ticket).
- It takes 3-4 days to enjoy Walt's Park & DCA IMO. (or 2.5 days with 2 MMs ;))
- In August it's best to get an early start....easier to do with an extra half day morning & with MM on 2 of your 3 days.
- Cut back elsewhere....it's the best $72 you'd spend.

(Personally I'd spend $72 just to get MM for two of us for 2 days...for me the extra day park ticket would be gravy.....& necessary to enjoy Walt's park & DCA).

Hound, unfortunately, GAT is not continuing the "2 MMs for 3-day or more hoppers" into 2009. :sad1: For the first several months they're doing the Disney promotion of "Everybody plays for the kids price", but when that is over in March, they will still be back to 1 MM per hopper, according to their current listings. Maybe they will reinstate it at that time (I hope!) but as of right now, they're only showing the 1 MM with all of their 2009 tickets.

I agree, though, that if at all possible, OP, please consider making it 3 days at DL. You would be rushed with just two days. It is well worth the extra cost.

Thanks for the correction Avalon. :thumbsup2 (hopefully GAT will offer to the twofer again.)

& I agree that the 3 day is preferable because it gives a person.....an extra day ;).

& also MM. :cool1:

I second the sentiment for a 3 day p/h ticket, in the event that you may be interested in visiting DCA, as well. last month, I had a 2 day p/h, and never felt rushed nor anything like it, but then, I spent all of my time at Dl. from before the park opened into the evening, one of these days, perhaps I will spend more time in DCA, from what I had last year, however, it will never be a matter of purposely spending more time in DCA in comparison to Dl. for me, Dl is the park that I know best, not DCA, it was not even a glimmer of a plan, when I was a kid.

I will definitely be buying two days tickets. And I also want to get them in advance to give them to my DH as a Christmas present. I am looking for the place to buy them at the best price. Can I buy DL tickets at a Disney Store in NJ? My local AAA office only sells packages for DL. I can only buy tickets there for DW, not DL.
Also DW sells tickets cheaper if you opt NOT to get hoppers. Is there such an option for DL tickets?

Call your Disney store to ask... but I think they only sell parkhoppers. I could be wrong.

Otherwise, you can prepurchase at Ares travel for a small discount. GAT has them at the same price as DL travel, but they also have a $10 processing fee.

Yeah, at least ours does. Just the City Pass, not separate DL parkhoppers.
