In your opinion, which DVC resort has the best pool area for a family of four including 13 and 5 year old boys. We may go in late August but may just spend a lot of time vegging at the pool, DD, etc.

Beach Club Villas are my favorite. Stormalong Bay has everything one could want in a pool area. They also have a nice quiet pool in the back.
Plus easy walking distance to Epcot for evening dining.

I knew that BCV would be the first response. How about not including BVC since I can't get in there.

If you like to keep an eye on your kids--SAB will give you gray hair! Since you can't get in there, I would say any DVC pool is a great pool. I just returned from OKW and really enjoyed my stay there. They have a water slide and boat rentals right next to one another. I also visited SSR main pool and it was great. I have little kids so the zero entry was a big plus. I have also seen pictures of the new pool at SSR and it looks really nice too. I think once you rule out BCV, all DVC resort pool are pretty much neck and neck.

Have a wonderful trip!

My family adores the WL pool. The entire setting is gorgeous, plus there are the marina activities. We always book a late Aug. trip there without much of a problem...hope it works out for you.

My family likes the BWV. It's a great pool for all ages - and is easier to watch the younger kids. Nice pool slide :thumbsup2

As the mother of 3 boys about the same ages (5,11,14) and 1 DD(8) I can tell you about our experience at the different resorts. If your kids like sports (basketball, tennis, ping pong, shuffleboard, volleyball) or sand & a playground area-OKW has all of these located at the main pool area, along with a great waterslide and pool. My kids loved that everything else was around the pool area at OKW last summer. My then 13 and 11 yr olds could play basketball while we sat by the pool. Community Hall is right by the pool area too.

SSR has a nice pool with community hall not far from the pool area and Artists Point (food) near the pool. DTD is a boat ride or short walk away, and we did this often when we were there. The Congress Park pool is awesome too and the grandstand looks cool.

My younger kids loved the BWV clown pool but the older ones liked OKW and SSR's more. We have not yet stayed at VWL, but will say that having the quiet pool at any DVC is great for less crowded swims (most of the time).

And yes, we have stayed at BCV, which has an awesome pool, but we still like the other pools and resorts too. We will be in DIsney this August again for our own poolside vacation :) Have fun choosing-you really can't go wrong-just think about what you plan to do most days and evenings, if that helps narrow it down.

We are leaning towards the Boardwalk. We always stay at OKW. The slide looks cool at BWV. The location also appeals to me. My 13 year old seemed a bit bored at the OKW pool. The BWV pool looks better.

Have you stayed at OKW since they put the pool slide in? I think that made a huge difference for kids. But I'd have to say that the BWV slide is probably a little more fun for your boy.

Both OKW and BWV also have Community Halls, which I think are perfect for kids your ages. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I'm not as familiar with the SSR set-up so that might work for you too.

The unofficial guide to WDW lists the main pool at SSR the second highest rated DVC pool after SAB.

Stormalong Bay.

There are lots of other great pools at WDW, and at the DVC resorts, but Stormalong is the grandpappy of 'em all, IMHO.

BCV is not available when I want to go. I am leaning toward Boardwalk. Looks like a nice pool and close to a lot of restaurants and night life. While at OKW this past January, I went to SSR and was not impressed. It did not have the Disney feel.
