Best Plan For This?

We've unexpectedly been gifted tickets to MegaCon in Orlando this Sunday! The Con ends at 5pm that day, so we figured we'd do a little "out of park" Disney touring while we're there. Shop a little, sight see, and eat dinner before heading home.

I know I want to go to the Boardwalk, it looks so pretty, and might be a good spot to grab some food.

I'd also like to check out the AKL, since it seems like such a unique resort, and I'd like to see some animals.

I think Art of Animation resort is a must do, since it looks like we could get some really cool photos there.

And then DTD and/or watching the fireworks from somewhere (maybe Poly?) would be cool. Meeting Chip & Dale at the Campground Sing-a-long would be awesome, but is at the bottom of the list.

Is there a good "touring plan" to hit these spots? We'll only have limited time, from about 5 till after the fireworks.

Is it best to drive to each place individually or is there a good monorail method? I know NOTHING about WDW and even less about the resorts, so I don't know how many are easily accessed via monorail.

No monorail riding really fits in.
You'd drive to every location.

1. OK.
2. OK.
3. OK.
4. Forget the Poly beach at this time.
Park in the Magic Kingdom lot. Wishes Fireworks are at 10PM this Sunday.
Get there by 40 minutes before the MK fireworks.
Walk to the TTC Ferry Boat dock.
Great views (and audio piped in) of the fireworks from there.

That's a LOT to see in such a short time. I would consider cutting something out. If you really just want to hit the 4 resorts (AKL, AoA, Boardwalk, and Poly for fireworks), there is no monorail that connects these. WDW runs mainly on a bus system, but I don't THINK the busses run from resort to resort. Just from the resorts to parks/DTD and vice versa. I'd consider just driving to the different resorts.

If you decide to follow Robo's suggestion, please note you will have to pay to park in the MK lot. The same may be true for the different resort parking lots as well. My gut says you will only have to pay once and be able to park in all, but we don't drive, so I don't know that for sure. Hopefully someone will come along who might know the answer to this.

By the time you finish dinner and some walking around Boardwalk and seeing AKL, it will be getting dark. Pictures at AoA may not work at that point.

(Only if you choose Valet Parking, do you pay.)
The only resort with valet parking in my suggestions is AKL.
No need to Valet park.

I would suggest starting at art of animation resort so you can see it while it's still light outside. From their drive to the boardwalk, and have your dinner and walk around. By then, it should be time to head to see the fireworks and MK. If they'll let you park at the contemporary, there is a nice area for viewing on the fourth floor. Or you could take Robo's suggestion, and watch from the boat dock at the TTC. Both are good viewing areas. From there, I would end the evening by hopping on the resort monorail which stops at the contemporary, the grand Floridian, and the poly. You could take a quick tour around these iconic hotels. Each one has a bar where you can get a drink or a snack, if you wanted. Not sure how late these are open, though.

You said you don't know anything about W DW, so you should know that the property is huge. It will take you longer to get around than you think. The signs on property are good at directing you where you need to go, but I would rely on a GPS if I had one.

Have fun at mega con. My husband is super jealous that you're going and he's not.

PS-I had to do this on Siri, and apologize for the poor capitalization.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just saw the weather is supposed to be thunderstorms most of the evening/night. We'll probably just skip it, since walking around in the rain won't make for the best of moods or pictures, and I'm assuming no fireworks.
