Best plan for scheduling vape breaks

So my husband has had a long-standing issue with nicotine. He has quite several times over the past 20 years, sometimes for over a year, but always ends up back on it hooked. A few years ago he finally ditched cigarettes for good and switched to vaping.

Our last trip in 2019, DLR still had some smoking sections in park, where he would vape and get his nic fix. For us, these fixes are as crucial to a happy trip as avoiding hangry people, so I am trying to figure out our best approach now that those locations are gone.

Has anyone else come up with a good plan to allow for these breaks without totally derailing a touring plan? I am comfortable wrangling the kids without him for short bits of time, but am looking to minimize those times as much as possible by making sure he knows the best place to go.

My grandma always did patches while in the park and then she would pop out for a break while we went on the train ... one loop on the train was enough time for her to smoke then she would meet us back at main street station.

Currently, your options are to exit thru the Grand to the street (most congregate to the south of the light) or exit out to Harbor. I will see where the area is on Harbor, as we do have a smoker in our crew.

He has done patches in the past. I will see if he is interested in that.

Thank you! Do you know if they will let you back in through the Grand? That would certainly seems the most convenient when the family is in DCA, and I'm guessing the Harbor location makes most sense when we are in DL.

I kind of wish they'd do separate locations for smoking vs vaping, because one of the benefits of vaping is NOT smelling like smoke :/

I think in all cases he will have to exit security and re-enter:

1) Monorail to DLH - I'm not sure where smoking section is, but they should have one.
2) From DCA, enter Grand and head toward convention center. I think there is a section outside the convention area (have seen groups smoking there).
3) Head out to Harbor Ave side. This might actually be shortest/fastest.

You have to go to the sidewalk off the property to smoke now. Disney no longer has "smoking areas". At the DLH, you have to walk out to Magic Way or Disneyland Dr, and it is much further than Harbor. At the Grand, exit out to the valet drive, follow the walkway to the traffic light, and most congregate right there (just to the left.) (I asked our "smoker" and he says Harbor side is closest, just go out to the street.)

Thank you! That's exactly the info I was hoping for. Harbor it is! Also hoping to convince him to wear a patch or try the gum again. I'm the high-strung one, and he's the calm, steady influence on me, so keeping him happy helps keep me happy, and I'm the planner keeping everyone else happy 😂

Interesting! When the smoking ban was announced 2019, they said smoking areas at the hotels would remain. I remember at Grand Cal it was at the outdoor fireplace, but they closed that. Then I saw a group outside the convention center, so I assumed they moved it there. Maybe that was just for convention guests and/or no longer there. As a former, I know it's tough to be a smoker these days. Thanks :thumbsup2

They shut all the areas down. I personally preferred when they did have smoking areas because now people try and sneak smoke inside the parks. But Disney has said no smoking on their property, period. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/guest-services/smoking/

"For the comfort of all Guests, smoking is not permitted in the theme parks and hotels of the Disneyland Resort, the Esplanade between the parks or the Downtown Disney District."

So for those staying at Grand Californian the closest place to smoke is on Harbor?

For GCH the closest public sidewalk would be Disneyland Dr out the front of the lobby. Although I assume you’d then be subject to any Anaheim city regulations.
