Best Plan for Hollywood Studios?

So I had to push my May trip to February so I'm scrambling a bit with fixing ADRs and things!

I'm trying to decide what to do for HS...I realized that the day I'm going to HS, they're doing the special ticketed event in the morning for Toy Story Land.

Should I avoid the TSL at rope drop and head to RnR and ToT, saving my FPs for TSL later in the day?

There are a lot of different strategies for the parks but I suppose it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you know you want to ride either SDD or RnR, head to the one you didn't get a FP+ for. I assume you are referencing the EMM hours for TSL specifically so you could plan to RD RnR and hope you get a FP+ for SDD. Disney Tourist Blog just did a RD strategy for TSL, see link below. Sounds like TSL isn't as chaotic to RD anymore however on a special morning event, it may not be wise to RD TSL. We will be there in 10 days and weren't able to get a SDD FP so we are RDing and hoping for the best. If you don't get a FP+ for either, I would RD RnR if that's priority and then head to SDD close to closing time.

By the time they let you into the park, the EMM folks will have had their fill of TSL and either be eating or headed to RNR and TOT. I'd say you WANT to go to TSL first and avoid even the others at park opening.

We arrived 60 minutes early, and did SDD at RD, then AS2 followed by TSM and were done by 9:15. The rest of the day, the standby line for SDD ws at least 80 minutes and AS2 was 45 + minutes.

You say "saving my FPs for TSL" – note you can only reserve ONE Toy Story Land FP in advance.

Or go when it’s raining. We went when it was pretty crowded and had a pretty substantial rain (no lightning and thunder) around 4 pm to around 7:30. TSMM was a 10 minute wait (rode twice) AS was walk on and SDD was 35 minutes. Grabbed FPS for 7:00 for ToT and it stopped raining in time for Fantasmic. Perfect night and we actually ended up canceling our EMM reservation and saved around 500.00. It just happened to be our DHS day. Big plus it had almost completely stopped raining when we got on SDD but we had ponchos anyway
